RE: UAB fans' anger at the death of their football program hasn't gone away
How did the student's chants of "Fire Ray Watts", etc come across on TV? Was there any discussion of the subject by the announcers?

You know I got some mean looks and head shaking when I chanted with the students. Head scratcher for me.

No Cajun. It was long time "normal fans".

I would tell them where they could jump using 4 letter words scattered throughout.

Actually the couple in front of us said I was a rebel for wearing my simple "FREE UAB" tshirt. I get the sick feeling they will be just fine with the ASun.

Yep. Never mind the fact that the attendance added up prior to last night's game would not have equaled last night's attendance.

Now that you say that, I had the same experience. Some of fans around me have obviously not kept up the the situation and didn't understand why people were chanting. Other, very conservative fans don't like to see any kind of rebellion.

I saw some of that in Section 207 last night and in 104 the Black Out game. All of it from older attendees. I presumed faculty or retired faculty. My attitude is if they don't like it, tough ****. Stay home and watch the crystal clear All Access feed. It's not like they cheer anyway. Might as well be mannequins.

I sat in 104 to 105 last night and there wasn't any one cheering hardly.

Yep, and to tell the truth I was very disappointed in the crowd last night. True it was a lot bigger than the crowds we have have this year thus far, but with a visit by LSU it should have been a sell out. Instead there were about 2,500 empty seats. It appears to me that the football issue has had a dampening affect on everything UAB. I know my spirits have been dampened; regardless of what is going on, there is still this undercurrent of grief that I have to deal with continuously. I think a lot of other UAB folks are similarly afflicted.

You do realize the home game with UNC (last year, when we still had a football team) wasn't a sell out. Last night's disappointingly small crowd had very little to do with the death of football.

It's football being gone plus the fact that we are 4-7, 200+ RPI, and haven't exactly been very good for a few years. Attendance has pretty steadily dropped the past few years.
2010: 5,970 (hosted a bunch of NIT games, Memphis, UTEP, Butler, Cincinnati)
2011: 5,167
2012: 4,564
2013: 4,118
2014: 4,304
2015: ????

Bartow Arena is way too big for UAB basketball, especially right now.

Shouldn't this be in blue ?
You know there were 6054 tickets sold last night, right?

The announced crowd was 6054, which has nothing to do with the amount of tickets that were sold.
