I see Dayton, SLU, Richmond and VCU are represented. They need some pro Siena guys on the board. You could try that.

Heck even funnier there was a St Bonaventure guy on there.

He's been here before and is a decent poster. I understand what he is trying to sell if you can overlook the name on the jersey. Not sure the time is right to go there though.

RE: Big East message board
yeah. It's just weird thinking St Bonaventure/Big East.

Just something about trying to limit the debate rubs me the wrong way. I don't care for NovaBall too much- but don't have a problem for instance him posting his stuff. I'm sure there is a faction of Nova fans that are upset with how much football gets. Don't think it's a huge faction or we'd know a heck of a lot more about it.

It's a real slippery slope when you limit debate. What is worse about how they do it over there- it's basically you get thrown into the dungeon you are there permanently. That's a complete joke.

It's amazing how they allow direct personal attacks over there. Only one moderated is me. What BS. Just a oh I have to feel good about myself bull****. It's a shame because there are a lot that are good on there- but 2 things- 1 they refuse to stand up to the bullies- and 2- those bullies just shout anything I have to say down. What's pathetic is when I posted under a 2nd name- no one said a word about how I was posting. I could say the sky is blue- and those morons would shoot it down...

And sorry but recruiting for the Big east is a concern. Only 5 top 100's last year and 8 so far this year. meanwhile- other programs in P5 are starting to get more and more recruits. And to try to use the 2013 season(which was signed a month before the split even occurred) is disingenuous.

You may see an emphasis on the "draft and develop" model where teams with upperclassmen will be solid and then a year or two down, then solid again. Maybe a Butler or a Creighton are competing for 3 years, down 1 or 2, and up again for 3. I think you are fine to be worried in the short term, but we won't know for a few cycles if this is the case.

RE: Big East message board
The thing that is scary is the total number of P5 top 100 guys...

2014 they "only" got like 65 guys
last year that number jumped up to 82.
This year so far up to 52 as of yesterday. But there are 26 guys left in the top 100. Pretty significant jump there I think.

One thing that hurts with the Butler/Creighton strategy(if it exists) that you say- I don't think you get anywhere near the respect compared to teams that are good all 8 years. What helped Butler a few years ago was they had been so good for so long, so that is in large part why they got a 5 seed, compared to Creighton who was more 2 on 1 off relatively speaking. They always got stuck with 8 or 9's as a result.

RE: Big East message board
The thing that is concerning is that not just the p5 getting more guys- but also some of the teams getting the guys. It's not just Kentucky/Duke/Michigan St, etc. getting those guys. Alabama has 2 top 70 guys this year. Cal had 2 top 10 guys last year. LSU. Miss St.

Oh and the stuff about ESPN not being equal to networks for college basketball is just bizarre. Sorry but this is something I posted hours ago but of course we know things can be slow..... Fox had last year 1 game all year long that got over a million viewers. Duke/St John's. ESPN had 29 games over 2 million. To act like network is better than cable in 2015- really it's not.

Unfortunate. May not agree with all your points, but the censorship is unfortunate.

RE: Big East message board
I've never had a problem with you MUAvalanche. Most of the folks are good- and love debating with them. But some just want it to be an affirmation post, and that's a joke.

the thing that is sad is things are just my opinions. It's my opinion that being on ESPN is at least equal to being on Fox, if not better. But if you think otherwise, that's fine- but don't try to act like I'm the only person who thinks like that. The ratings bare it out....

Same with the recruiting. Like I said on my post- You can't honestly take the 2013 class as being representative for the new league, as it was signed prior to the season happening. It's my opinion that recruiting the jury is still out there. Right now, we have as many recruits in 2015 and 2016 combined as we had in our first class in 2014. That's worrisome. You're starting to see more and more P5 schools getting in the game quite frankly. To say recruiting is all hunky dory is in my opinion a mistake. It's not. The gap with the P5 is growing. And that's something you don't want to see. Like you said, folks have a right to be concerned right now.

RE: Big East message board
I can't really complain about recruiting - Marquette is doing just fine (as they have been doing under Wojo, Buzz and Crean).

I think the troubling trend that the league needs to answer this year is tournament success. Last year, with six teams, was an outstanding testament that the conference is still a power conference in basketball - as ESPN and other media outlets have acknowledged. In order to sustain that perception, the league needs tournament success.

Marquette, to the conference's drain, has under-performed the past two seasons - missing the tournaments both years. This year's squad is very talented, but young. If they can gel early and gain confidence, it will be an advantage to the Big East.

Villanova and Georgetown, who have been and should be two of the top dogs in the conference, have not had a deep March run in some time (that's worrisome). However, they are still recruiting well and should be in the conversations with regularity.

Butler, Xavier and Creighton have all been wonderful additions to the conference. Each has made the tournament, and, in the case of Xavier and Butler, appear to be in the discussions for appearances each year. Creighton may be a school that needs to build up every 2-3 years in order to make runs - which is perfectly fine.

If DePaul and St. Johns could just use their locations and program histories to start making more noise, the conference will be a force to be reckoned with year-in and year-out. I'm more confident in St. Johns abilities with Chris Mullin than DePaul's, but we shall see.

RE: Big East message board
Yeah, tourney performance is huge. Eventually it has to change. I don't know what the time frame is for it to keep the perception- but it's going to be sooner rather than later. I mean, you just look at the preseason polls. No way Nova should be ranked only what #12? Just no way. But due to their tourney follies the last 2 years- that's a reality. Same for Georgetown to a lesser degree. They should be in the top 25- but with tourney performance weighing heavily that just isn't reality.

The key for Marquette imo is going to be keeping Wojo. He's taken Marquette's recruiting to another level.

This year should be pretty interesting. So many teams have a ton of youth. The concern you have is that schools like St John's, Marquette- take some losses early in the season that wouldn't happen later in the season- and that just puts them at 4-5 OOC losses. Then if one of them finishes at like 9-9, real tough to get in the tourney with that many losses. A LOT of the schools are going to be pretty young this season. That could bite them pretty good IMO.

Gotta love Nova fan saying now that them being ranked #11 is a sign of respect. What a bunch of crap. No way in hell that's a sign of respect.

Or that I'm the only one saying that the Big East isn't getting respect in the polls. What's sad is folks refuse to back me up on that board, even when they agree with me.

RE: Big East message board
Well, Nova Ball showed just how much of an idiot he is....
He said that the A10 TV package is better than the AAC for exposure. Because of everything on CBSSN.....
A10:CBS Sports Network will carry 27 games, including 17 conference contests, eight non-conference games and the two championship semifinals.ESPN will air a total of 14 regular season games on its family of networks.
AAC: Fifteen conference games will be carried either on ESPN or ESPN2, many as part of ESPN's Thursday Night Showcase series. Twenty-six more will be seen on ESPNU, with 24 scheduled for ESPNEWS. CBS Sports will televise one conference game – SMU at Cincinnati on March 6 – while CBS Sports Network will carry 25.

So A10 has 41 games on CBSSN and ESPN combined. AAC has 41 on ESPN/ESPN2/CBS/CBSSN. I think I'd rather have the 50 games on ESPNU/News than the 33 games on NBCSN. Also the AAC number doesn't include 5 conference controlled games on ESPN/ESPN2 OOC, along with 2 conference controlled OOC games on CBS.

wow, I thought I had seen it all. Someone claiming the first 3 years of the new big east is equal to the last 3 years of the old big east. Would love to get some of what that guy is smoking. Last 3 years of the old big east had 2 national titles and 4 final 4 spots.

Great to see Nova Ball and all his cronies got censorship back. Gotta love that. We need to bring this board back to life where folks can actually discuss stuff.
