RE: Swoosh
I think Nike does the best job style wise. Under Armor is good if you just have a basic uniform and aren't making changes, or are going quite conservative such as ND.

When Adidas had the Pitt contract, I thought the uniforms were terrible. When the contract went to Nike they improved significantly.

Apparently much of UL's contract is in retail-priced merchandise and not actually cash. I remember seeing some details about it a little while after it was announced and wasn't as impressed by the deal as I initially was. Obviously it's still better than many other schools.

The University of Miami’s 26-year marriage with Nike – the first of its kind in college sports – may be coming to an end.

UM has not renewed its contract with Nike, which expires Aug. 31, 2015

In 1987, UM became the first college to sign an all-sports contract with a retailer — allowing one brand to “own the school,” as former Nike executive Sonny Vaccaro called it after he inked the deal.

The new contract would give Adidas or Under Armour exclusive rights, meaning new Nike Hurricanes products would no longer be available. ... Nike is extremely popular and customers by and large are less enthused about Adidas and Under Armour.

It could also affect recruiting – athletes weaned on Nike shoes may not want to wear Under Armour or Adidas. Some recruits won’t play at non-Nike schools.

The switch to Adidas put's the annual payout between $7.5 and $8.0 million dollars .. Adidas outfits 11 of the 65 Power Conference schools and is second only to Nike and they are building their brand. Most of the SEC West wears Adidas and they aren't doing too bad. Here is a list of Adidas schools:

ACC: Boston College-Under Armour (UA), Georgia Tech-Russell Athletic, Louisville-adidas, NC State-adidas

Big 10: Indiana-adidas, Michigan-adidas, Nebraska-adidas, Wisconsin-adidas; Maryland-UA, Northwestern-UA,

Big 12: Kansas-adidas, Texas Tech-UA

Pac 12: UCLA-adidas, Utah-UA

SEC: Auburn-UA, Mississippi State-adidas, South Carolina-UA, Tennessee-adidas, Texas A&M-adidas

Independent: Notre Dame-UA

Louisville deal is $39 million over 5 years. $7.8 million a year. $1.54 million in cash. $7.7 million of the $39 million is cash.

The majority will consist of uniforms, footwear and accessories for U of L's 23 sports teams, plus investments in advertising, equipment room expansion and digital and video technology.

it's 3rd behind Notre dame and Michigan. When Jurich first got to Louisville in '97, no one wanted to brand them. The only deal they had was where for every 2 pair of shoes they bought @ retail price, they got 20% off on the 3rd pair!! So excuse me but it is a big deal to them.

Donations and ticket "turn down", as in poor attendance?

How would $1-2 million cash make up that difference?

As a private institution, UM does not release information on such contracts. The bids submitted by Adidas and Under Armour are believed to be several million dollars per year richer than Nike’s deal with UM.

How is $1-2m/yr enough to "absorb" or attendance and donations? Better attendance would dwarf $2m in revenue.

RE: Swoosh
Why doesn't Georgia Tech dump Russell??? Personally I think they would be much better off with either UA or Adidas IMO. Russell Athletic seems to be so old school it's not even funny. Why don't they go see if they can get a contract with Prokeds or Puma hell call up Converse...LOL. I just don't see WHY a school as big as GT being stuck with a small apparel deal like they have.
