One of your better ideas, except some of the teams are wrong (no offense).
The teams in the east have nothing in common with those guys way out in Texas, plus it creates those nasty time zone issues.

I would suggest:
South: Duke, Georgia Tech, Miami, North Carolina, Virginia, Wake Forest
North: Vanderbilt, Boston College, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Notre Dame, Northwestern

That "western" bunch needs to find some more teams way out there.
That works for me. The Texas schools could simply form their own and invite Tulsa, and others.

With Miami, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, Northwestern, Notre Dame, and perhaps Vanderbilt and Syracuse you would still have enough football cache to make it pay off. It might be a great place for Purdue as well.

BTW, JR, we would be smart enough to demand equal revenue sharing with the rest of you yokels or else it's a non-starter.

I never knew Georgia State was in the ACC or was a candidate for the B12. Do you mean Georgia Tech?

RE: Christmas Realignment Wish List
My Christmas wish for the ACC has a lot of moving parts, so it will take all of Santa's magic to pull it off.

Moving part #1 is that Wake Forest decide to drop football in exchange for the ACC allowing them to remain for all other sports. That opens the door for moving part #2 - Cincinnati joins the ACC in all sports. That triggers moving part #3 - the Big 12 realizes that the ACC now has both teams they should have added when they took in West Virginia. Knowing that WVU will now always be an outlier, they allow them to leave without penalty, and take their media rights with them.

Part #4 is that the Mountaineers join the ACC in all sports, and the final part, #5, is that the ACC invites East Carolina as a football only member. Whew. That was a lot of work. Here's the final result.

ACC North: BC, Syracuse, Pitt, West Virginia, Louisville, Cincy, Virginia Tech and Miami.

ACC South: Virginia, UNC, NC State, Duke, ECU (for football, and Wake for hoops), Clemson, Georgia Tech and FSU.

As the first conference with 16 members, the ACC breaks new ground by creating a four team Conference Championship Tournament without needing a waiver from the NCAA. Here's how.

Weeks 1-3 Each team plays 2 OOC games, plus 1 Inter-division opponent (rotating).

Weeks 4-12 Full 7 game round robin within each division.

Week 13 Each team plays an inter-division opponent. The two teams in each division with the best record in their division round robin are paired in a de facto conference semifinal.

Week 14 OOC games on Thanksgiving weekend, including all the traditional rivalries plus a few new ones. For example:

FSU - Florida
Clemson - South Carolina
Georgia Tech - Georgia
Louisville - Kentucky
BC - UConn
Pitt - Penn State
UVA - Maryland
Syracuse - Rutgers
West Virginia - Marshall
Virginia Tech - Tennessee
Duke - Vanderbilt
ECU - Old Dominion
NC State - Appalachian State
UNC - Charlotte
Miami - UCF
Cincinnati - Ohio

Week 15 Conference championship game.

Scheduling the OOC games in Week 14 allows fans of the two teams to make travel plans for the CCG, and gives everybody (almost - sorry, Duke) a chance for a Thanksgiving game they can drive to with relative ease. The nine league games gives almost everybody a chance to play every team in the other division once every four years. The ones who don't are the ones who play in the CCT often instead.

Merry Christmas.
