RE: 2014 UC Bearcats
When the season started most of us thought 9-3 was a decent record based on losing to OUC and Miami NC and one league game which we thought most likely would be ECU School of Time Management.

There was a lot of potential fools gold on the back half of this schedule. SMU, Tulane, USF, UCONN, Temple, heck, even Houston who was so good they canned their HC after our game were not necessarily great barometers. Bowl game is going to be a nice litmus test on how things have progresed.
I almost feel like this was your exact same post at the conclusion of last season

We lose Munchie,,an experienced producer as backup to a crampy Kiel. And we lose Temple and Luc,,who shored alot of DE weakness. I don't know how we plug
those significant losses with anticipated signings.

Jerred Evans should be back and the redshirt will be taken off Hayden Moore (my guess is they will redshirt Ross Trail. People have forgetten how well our offense played against SMU. In addition to the fact that SMU sucks, Evans truly brought the dual-threat element to the game keeping the defense on their toes. We could have put up another 3-4 TD's on SMU but the coaching staff cleared the benches in the 3rd and 4th quarters. Hayden Moore looked promising in the Spring Game.

Temple and Luc will be more difficult to replace. In addition, we lose Terrelle Hartsfield at DE who had a very strong year. We have guys like Wilson, Mohoun, Clemente Cassius and Davon Witherspoon who will give it their best at LB. DE is a bigger probelm right now as Mark Wilson is untested. We will need to get a JUCO at this position this year.

Is Adrian Witty eligible for a Medical Greyshirt to play next year?

Don't recall but any post close in proximity to Eddie Gran pissing away the UL game with his bs playcalling in OT should be taken with a huge grain of salt.

Well, the first 5 games last season weren't so hot. But at least we didn't lose to anyone near as bad as Illinois or USF this season. But it was more of an offensive problem than defensive. Took the staff/Gran until late in the USF game to scrap the power run game and go to the spread. Then we went on a winning streak against a bunch of crap teams (with a mediocre team or two sprinkled in).

RE: 2014 UC Bearcats
I'll qualify my comments to highlight some pleasant surprises for this season in no particular order...

1) Andrew Gantz. Ok, I know this is a kicker but all this middle school aged looking freshman kid (all 5'7" 150 lb. of him) did this year was make 50 out of 52 PATs and 15 out of 18 FGs (5 of 7 40-49 YDS). Essentially, he made us forgot about the kicking liability problem known as Tony Miliano. Gantz has a bright future and this should be one area that TT does not have to worry about.

2) Max Morrison. He finished second in receptions behind Shaq with 43 catches and seemed to run crisper routes and worked better under the coverage this year. It also helps to have a QB like Gunner throwing to you but I look for him to steadily improve during his Senior season. Hopefully, Morrison plays a prominent role next year near a "Shaq-like" level with good hands and moving the chains.

3) Terrell Hartsfield. He had the type of season that I thought Silverberry was going to have. Lead the team in sacks with 8 and just seemed to be more consistently causing disruption in the opponent's backfield. Hate to think where the Dee Line would be without him this year.

4) Offensive Line as a group. Injuries again caused some shuffling on the line and what looked like was going to become a liability became a strength by the end of the season.

5) Mike Boone. Wow. Built like a stud running back with the performance to back it up as a freshman. Probably not quite as fast as I. Pead was but definitely stronger with the ability to break tackles. In 8 games Boone ran for over 600 yards with a 6.6 average and 9 TDs. Did he ever fumble? If he did, I don't remember. Hands down I feed this kid the rock next year as the starter at RB.

Moore now looks like the clips of him when he won all the accolades in Juco. Kid is lightning fast. Wish we had 1 more year with him.

110% agree on number 5. If that kid is healthy and is not the feature back next year there needs to be a congressional investigation.

Please Eddie, don't have him pass the ball out of the wildcat.
Kid was a WR in HS, and he kills those first few steps off the ball. One TV play by play guy said he makes it look like everyone else is standing still in the first few steps (sic).

That is actually what you do. All the video is running. Change it up for the bowl game.

If anyone's throwing out of the wildcat, it better be the D3 OPOY, 1st Team All-Ohio QB, and record holder for total yardage in an OHSAA State Title game that we've got in the slot most games. Still don't know why we don't take advantage of that more.

Seriously, why we don't run Shaq and Boone out of the read option when we are trying to kill off games makes little to no sense to me.
