Honestly as a Cardinal Fan, You should hope they don't. Cause if they do the ACC just became a G5 conf. in football.

And then all we can hope is that somehow someway nobody picks you this time. Please oh Please let that that happen!

Maybe 12 years is all you guys got left... I know, I know, wishful thinking.

But Can't you just see it!! Miami, Louisville, USF, UCF, ECU, Syracuse, Clemson, Tulsa, Tulane, UMass, Temple, Navy, La Tech and some others... Whatever, You get my drift.

That's all I want for Christmas for the next 12 Christmas'.

Unless the ACC gets ND on board Since The Executive Board of the Big 10 Was informed that it is The UofC and The UofM to the Big XII.

I think the committee didn't want to have to deal with deciding between Baylor/TCU. Baylor technically was the champ but they had TCU so high. Ohio State was their scapegoat. Tho how does Wisconsin lose 59-0 to a third string qb when you have a top 10 D...something fishy about that...If Ohio State loses the Big 12 is in and expansion talk publicly gets put off atleast another year. If Florida State wouldn't have pulled out so many squeakers the Big 12 gets 2 teams in the playoff and look like geniuses.

The ACC should be worried. Their conference champ was basically told they had to be undefeated to be in the Playoff. Had FSU picked up a loss they would not have been in the playoff. I think the Big12 is fine.

He's upset it won't be Louisville and Cincinnati to the Big 12 but instead Cincinnati and Memphis. But he'll never admit it 03-wink We need the gang back together.

05-nono Not upset at all, the ACC is where Louisville always wanted to be. You had better hope it is not Northern Illinois and Cincinnati that gets added! 07-coffee3

Nobody is getting added, Wilkie, much to your dismay. But keep dreaming.

As for TCU and Baylor getting left out of the playoff picture, there's a simple explanation. Neither Baylor nor TCU are "name" programs. Ohio State is a "name," and the playoff committee found themselves unable to deny the draw of the name. It's that simple.

I happen to like the Big XII. It's a better football and basketball conference than the ACC. Check the RPI comparison. 05-stirthepot

So serious question from a complete outsider: Beyond being the only other all sports playing college located between Texas and West Virginia that is in a conference a step above CUSA; is there a reason why Memphis is being mentioned as #12 for the B12?

Memphis sports revenue looks good, but I would assume that is basketball driven and B12 doesn't seem to value basketball vs Football.
Memphis metro is big city in football crazy area, but it is dominated by SEC.
Western Tenn is not the recruiting gold mine that Tx or Fla are.
Outside of B12 newcomer TCU, I can't think of any current B12 school that would have recent shared history with Memphis.

Well there's a limited pool of candidates that have even limited appeal and make sense in terms of geography. Otherwise, many of the reasons that you list are among the reasons that the Big 12 hasn't chosen Memphis up to now. The 2008 National Championship basketball game ties KU and Memphis, but obviously with Calipari having moved on to Lexington it's not quite the same as it would otherwise have been.

It is true we don't have much history with Big 12 schools. We did play Kansas the season after Cal left and almost won. And the year after that in NYC. Kansas has turned down a home/home ever since. We did just wrap up a home/home with Oklahoma State in bball and start a home/home with Oklahoma next year. We played Baylor this year in bball in Vegas. We start a home/home this year @ Kansas in football. Obviously we have a long history with Cincinnati (assuming if we are ever added it will be with Cinci) which gives us some tie to West Virginia bball with Bob Huggins (he loved our "obnoxious Memphis students").

We're trying!

Yeah, plus, it's not like having a history with schools is necessarily a good reason for conference inclusion, else we'd have been in the SEC a LOOOOONG time ago.

Yeah... because raising a flag in the third largest TV market with a premier football program and an upward trending basketball program that is improving their facilities campus wide to be in a P5 league is SOOOOO terrible. Look at our orange bowl numbers, we show up to games that arent CMU and Presbyterian... also Cinci has hung with the big boys in a P6 so idk what your issue is with them...
