Is a simple majority all that's needed for us to defeat Watts?

I know for a fact that this faculty member is opposed to a vote of no confidence and seems to think that the publicity that UAB is receiving is good. Please let him know your position. Also, he is not returning emails after the closed door meeting today. Watts is buying people now.

The publicity that UAB is receiving is GOOD? Are you serious?

Will the votes be public knowledge? In other words do we have a way to know who votes for or against Watts?

Depends solely on the voting method. Most are done by ballot, and are anonymous except for those counting (is that way in ours).

No. We don't want that to be known. It will be a secret ballot in order to provide a free zone with which to vote uninhibited by outside pressures or personal consequences.

Also, the vote won't happen tomorrow. It will just be a motion to vote for No Confidence. Actual vote will happen in another meeting.

I've worked with Dr. Uswatte in the past. While i respect him and hold him in high regard, he never struck me as a man who cares much about anything more at UAB than his research.

And, that apathy exhibited by faculty is a core issue that has 100% contributed to UAB football's fate...

Makes sense. Just would be nice to hold accountable those who side with Watts.

Also do we just need simple majority?

Does anyone know the membership in the senate the number of SOM members vs undergraduate? IMHO the SOM will be overwhelming pro Watts for carrying out their agenda. If that base is to large - we do not have a chance.

In academia the old saying really applies if you go after the king you better make sure you kill him. In general at most colleges the indifferent to athletics faculty will be vey reluctant to stick their neck out- Especially If Watts has been able to frame it as spend money on academic or continue to throw our money at mediocre extracurricular. I pray that I am wrong but we may will be facing an uphill battle.

The Honors Program has already been gutted from what was started years ago... Really frustrating.

It's 4:50 am here in Atlanta. In ten minutes I'm hitting the road to drive to Birmingham and attend the meeting.
