Well at least 6-7 Fresno state has the chance to get to 0.500 now.

It was a long-shot at .500, regardless of what happened at the end of the season. Before this happened, I suspected we would be left out, but I was hoping for a few more winning seasons following this one

If the team had been invited to a Bowl, I would have told them to decline because of the student athletes. There are football players on our team that are going to have a chance to play for another football program.
I would not want our players getting injured with so much on the line for their future. Other colleges are looking at our kids and many will be eligible to play immediately next fall.
Remember our school President just killed the football program, it would have been a compelling national story but as a parent, if my kid was playing I would tell the coach, NO WAY WILL MY CHILD PLAY !!!

You may have a point there. Getting injured in a bowl game would possibly be detrimental if transferring to a new school. But then again, they would have fought for UAB one last time and they could finish their educations at the sinking ship known as "UAB"...
