Nice school, nice location, that we're going to play them the next two years takes a lot of interest away for me. Rather se a game against someone haven't played before or at least in a while. All of which I imagine will go away once the game begins.

It sucks. Having a bowl game on a Sunday night with work the next day. Might be able to go - spend Friday to Sunday and come back on Monday.

It would be a mistake to treat this bowl the same as MCB. The festivities that precede the game are what make the experience great. Get there by Friday and attend as many of the events as possible. Then take Monday off to travel back home. If you can't get a vacation day or two and enjoy the weekend, I'm not sure it would be worth going just to see the game. Stay home and watch it on tv.

We finished the season with 45 total players and 17 total defensive players. We had a TE playing DT because of injuries.
Early in the season we beat Utah State and were shutting down opposing offenses. By the end of the year, we were starting an average of 245 pounds on the defensive line, and teams were putting up 300 plus per game rushing on us.
Now, we'll have 4 or 5 back on defense in time for the bowl, so we wont be as thin, but we're still probably not capable of putting much more than a basic 2 deep out there.
Offense has played last 5 weeks without our star WR, but he'll be back for the bowl. We're putting up a lot of yards and a lot of points. Mainly behind our QB. He's never going to win an award for his spectacular arm, but he's incredibly athletic.
I have no idea what to expect. We could come out and lose by 30, or come out and win by 20

Alternative is playing opposite the NFL Playoffs on Saturday.
The experience is half of Mobile. This isn't a bowl you come in for a day and leave. This is one of those vacation bowls, spend two or three days enjoying the parade and parties etc, and then watch the game.
If you came for the stadium itself, you'd leave sorely disappointed.

I've was in Mobile for the GMAC game back in 2005. It was still pretty cold there and not that long after the hurricane (Katrina I believe) had gone through the area. It is on the Robert Trent Jones trail, so golfing is available. Just don't know what to expect for weather there.
Who are some of the teams of note that Arkansas State has beaten over the past few years. Don't know much at all about them and trying to get caught up.

Over the past few years
Kent State (First ever Top 25 win)
Ball State
Utah State
Memphis
Pretty much the entire Sun Belt.
We're 25-6 in SBC Play since 2011. OOC Play rather than playing weak P5's, we end up playing upper tier ones. Until this year we had played 7 straight ranked P5 opponents. Finally played Tennessee this year to break our streak, but they beat us. Outside of the P5, CUSA is currently boycotting us as a group, we're not entirely sure why, but we didn't part amicably when that last group of SBC teams went to CUSA.
Big games coming up though
Missouri at home in 2015
Toledo at home in 2016
Miami at home in 2017
UNLV at home in 2018.
Iowa State at home soon after that.

Weird... You have the same scheding tendencies as Toledo. Mizzou, Miami, Isu.
Glad you think we are a big future game! Not many Toledo fans feel the same about stAte though. Im pumped for this one.

Injuries are part of the game and we've had more than our fair share, but your team seems to have been especially hard-hit. Hopefully both teams will have some of their best players back for their experience as well as all of us fans. Good luck to both teams!

Considering how hard it is to play P5 teams, anytime you can get a Bowl caliber team into your stadium, its a good thing. (Though much like you guys some of our fans will turn up their noses because you guys are MAC. (Our administration has gotten into this we're the next Boise, UCF kick)
I'm pretty sure we chose the teams we did because they had already agreed to series with you guys, so we knew they would be willing for us. Jonesboro, AR isn't a hot bed of recruiting, nor a major city, so its hard for us to bring teams in.

That should increase your interest. This game is basically a scrimmage and gives both teams a preview. There's plenty of time for healing so both teams should be mostly healthy and able to play loose.

I remember the Rockets played Arkansas State in the Glass Bowl back in the early 1990s. Toledo still played defense in those days and Arkansas State was down at that time and it was a shutout with the UT offense running up a pretty high score. I also remember the next week Arkansas State was scheduled to play a ranked Oklahoma team-----don't know how they fared the at Oklahoma the following week after being blown up by a lowly Toledo team, but I imagine it got pretty ugly. Actually Toledo had a pretty good team that year and also beat Purdue at W. Lafayette.
That might have been the year Saban was head coach here in which case TampaRocket might give us a recap of the game.

The GoDaddy Bowl. Good opponent (of course a P5 team would be great, but that will rarely happen anyymore for GO5 teams). Good location. Good support.
