Do you think Michigan thought NJIT was cupcake city, too?
You need to remember to respect your opponent and play with a purpose

Yes of course. But what to we expect to accomplish by playing a series of them?

So let's schedule games with teams like Dayton, Cincinnati, Xavier, Wright St. , etc. Oh, wait, they won't schedule us now that we're good.

I am not sure I completely buy the company spin that these teams won't play us.

What's so hard to believe that goods teams don't want to play us because they're afraid to lose to us? And none of them want to come to Savage. That's probably the big deal breaker. Yea, I bet we could play all OOC road games against good competition. But we need to have home games, and no one wants to come to Savage.

Coach K, and MOB believe we are on the cusp of great things. After being undefeated at home in 2013 and winning 27 games... why not think that!? Other big schools see that too. It's too risky to schedule a team with little stability (new to success), but one that could be good enough to beat you. In reality Toledo is an RPI killer. IF you lose to us... it's a bad loss. If you beat us, it's probably not going to be looked as a good win because we don't have the recognition of being a good team yet. Playing a good mid major away in front of a rowdy home crowd is stupid. I wouldn't do it!

IMO EMU is a safer game to schedule because they don't have any hype around them and haven't shown they can win more than 10 games in the MAC yet. Some high profile teams scheduled them, but ran into the off chance that EMU became really good. So now a team like Michigan is paying for it. Also EMU doesn't have much of an environment at home, so they probably could get big schools to play in the Convo because the RPI of schools who won there would be helped out even more for the "away game."
