JACK WILLIAMS PLEASE READ
Jack I know everyone is in an uproar but I have not heard from anyone what the plan is. My thoughts are that we should be trying to take all of the financial considerations Watts keep eluding to off the table. Here's the way I see it.

1) A few years back as I recall the VCU student body voted to increase student fees in order to keep Shaka Smart. I think UAB students should do the same thing. If the students voted to increase student fees for Athletics $100 per semester this will increase revenues $4m-$4.5 million per year.

2) See If the City of Birmingham and Jefferson County will commit to 1m-1.5 per year. The two measures combined will eliminate his projected 27.3 difference over the next five years.

3) Have All Sports Teams to formally withdraw their requests for University Funds to improve or build Facilities stating that their previous requests were a wish list but is not neccessary for them to compete at the highest level in C-USA. And also state that they would only seek private funds for such measures in the future.

4) For non-P5 schools the measure concerning full cost of attendance scholarships will be voluntary not manditory depending on if the G5 schools or G5 conferences decide to adopt the measure. Therefore, all of the current scholarship atheles can vote not to accept any voluntary cost of attendance stipend for the next 5 years.

These are just some of my thoughts - please let me know what you think.

Some of these are great ideas, and should also be immediatelu proposed to provost linda lucas, the faculty senate, the uab football foundatiom and the uab sga. If there is any chance of reversing this disaster events have to happen very soon, perhaps within days. The vcu example is a great lever and inspiration for uab students, if they truly care about an athletic program.
