All of TOM's cited deficiencies at USA are correctable with the additional money that could come from private contributions (from T-K Steel, Airbus and others who might be looking for ways to show local involvement) and conference revenue sharing, not to mention the additional fans who could be brought on board. Otherwise, his list makes good points for conference discussions of several good choices if C-USA goes ahead with changes.

I don't think UAB is getting the boot the more I think about things. let's hope we get a quick reversal and don't have to worry about it.

Is this an opinion, or something you have reason to believe? Don't need specifics, just curious.

I believe the MAJOR damage to UAB has already been done by reminding the athletic (and perhaps academic as well) world that UAB has essentially no REAL control over its own destiny. I have characterized it as the BOT being "that 300lb gorilla" in the "family" picture. No one with any sense of reality thinks this was all a local decision made by a local administration as a result of an impartial study.

The BEST we can hope for is a temporary loosening of their grip on UAB's throat while the spotlight is on them. When that light shifts to some other target, they will return to their constant goal of hobbling UAB in any way that they see open to them.

With all the bad publicity UAB has received due to this event, I don't believe we will be able to attract quality players or coaches in the future if the UA BOT governance/control issue is not corrected or removed first.

The truly horrible result of all this is the likelihood that the Crimson centric BOT will see the diminished reputation of UAB as an institution of higher learning as being good for their campus and its programs. We (the school and the city) are seen as just "collateral damage" in this attack.

To be quite frank, this particular Jags fan wouldn't really care. I wanted to go to CUSA because UAB was there, without you guys I don't see the point.
I'm old enough that ya'll were our big rivals back in the day and I really miss that...and hate your trustees.

On the cusa board there is an article out of odu country stating that uab willl have a chance to make his case in January for remaining in cusa. I hope watts is not the one lobbying on uabs behalf at that meeting. Staying in cusa is crucial!

Watts is liable to go in there and tell the C-USA officials that he's done the numbers and their conference just isn't viable.
