RE: Morehead State and UAB Game Thread
Agree with MB. Getting in the A 10 or the MVC would be great. I never wanted us to lose football because of everything that is lost with it but speaking strictly as a basketball fan if this resulted in us getting in one of those two conferences then I would be ok with it. I don't think it's going to happen though so yeah, CAA seems like the next best option. Of course who knows how long that conference will stay in tact.

I would love to get in either of those conferences. Unfortunately, I just don't think it's realistically going to happen.

It would take a lot of time, effort, & hard core lobbying. Raise your hand if you're confident in our leadership to do that.

Anyways I just hope our basketball team can return to some type of prominence. Current CUSA basketball isn't that much better than the OVC.
Investments really won't mean that much if we're in a crap conference, but who knows. The simple fact that UAB has never invested in football is why our basketball has suffered the past 10 years.
That's the best explanation, honestly.
That said, I really liked the play today. There was a lot more intensity on defense. Active hands, rolling off obvious screens, closing out really well, all those blocks, etc. That was good stuff. MSU started well, but they kept killing their momentum with offensive fouls.
Some of you guys deserve some kind of recognition for leading and organizing these things, too.

For the sake of those who are primarily FB fans, those conferences are just names we have heard, and we don't know what member schools you are discussing. Are any of them former SunBelt or former C-USA members? How are those leagues geographically positioned for UAB to join?

My realistic dream conference would be the Colonial. Second choice would be OVC.
Agree 100%. These were the exact conferences I would want in that order. I also kinda thought all along the ovc might be a good fit because it wouldn't crush soccer.(if we are down that low in basketball ranks, who cares what 1 bid league we are in?) I'm still holding out a little bit of hope that CUSA will work with us temporarily while we try and deal with the bull****.

I think they'll let us stay next year even if the decision is to kick us out.

given the short notice, UAB is in C*USA at least through this academic year, maybe next year. if the football decision happens to be reversed before a new member is chosen then it doesn't matter.
an interesting question, though, is what happens if C*USA invites a new member, they accept, and then UAB reverses the decision?
