RE: C-USA in N.O. Bowl?
Dwight Dasher delivered the performance of a lifetime after getting hurt a couple of times during the game. Also, Suber's pick (I think the USM QB had only thrown 2-3 all year) inside the 20 was a beauty.

Pretty obvious NOLA would want Rice.

HOD - Winner of La Tech/Marshall
New Mexico - UTEP
Bahamas - MT
Boca - Loser of La Tech/Marshall?
Hawaii - WKU
NOLA - Rice

Basically said that if MWC can't fill that a C-USA team would be taken.

The NO Bowl prefers big local games over pulling in teams from other states to fill hotels.

That said, La Tech how do you fill about a rematch with the Cajuns?

I don't think they'd want a rematch of a 48-20 game in their bowl. It'll probably be Rice or UAB. I'd like to see WKU. For Tech I'm hoping for a P5 opponent. If that doesn't happen MWC or AAC. MAC and Belt are at the bottom of my list.

There were 54,000+ paying fans watching Tulane and the Cajuns play last year. I'm sure if there was chance for the NO bowl to match Tech and the Cajuns, they'd do it in a heartbeat regardless of what the score was of a game back in September.

Having said that, I doubt either team to wants to play their bowl game against the other.

I'm kind of twisted in nature so I think it'd actually be pretty cool.04-cheers

It would draw a crowd, I'm sure. But folks in Ruston really want to go to Dallas or Shreveport. I think Rice will be an excellent choice and a good game for the Cajuns. Don't worry Cajun fans you will get your chance again next season.

Kind of warming up to the idea of WKU being in Hawaii Bowl, I would rather that have that time slot at night than noon during the day on Christmas Eve with Bahamas Bowl...Plus Hawaii Bowl has been around for a long time and I remember watching some of the previous years games just becasuse nothing really else was on sports wise....If I am WKU I think I would lobby for Hawaii, would be great reward for our program and also would be good for our offense in warm weather....Western vs. Western in Hawaii....

My predictions are La. Tech in HOD Bowl, Marshall in Boca Bowl, MTSU in Bahamas BOwl, WKU in Hawaii Bowl, UTEP in New Mexico Bowl and Rice in New Orleans..

WKU rumor mill saying that we are going to Boca if Marshall wins the CCG. Guess I am cheering for Marshall.

Extremely doubtful this rematch would take place. Like already mentioned: played this year, playing again next year....just doesn't make sense. I can understand the Bulldogs wanting Dallas or Shreveport, just as we also like New Orleans. Great location for our fanbases. I think a matchup with Rice would be excellent.

Tech folks want to play in Dallas badly. I'm for the above scenario as well.

I am all for WKU going to New Orleans or Boca. I am not going to UL game so I am all for going to bowl game and these are my only options to go. After not getting a bowl game last year I would like to go. Nice weather and a lot of tourist attractions.

I agree with you. I'd rather have Hawaii than Bahamas but I know that's not happening.

Why? What's so great about Dallas?

Dallas is the focal point for most of Tech's out of state recruiting. Its also home to the largest Tech Alumni fanbase outside of Louisiana. There are a ton of engineering folks in Dallas with Tech degrees.

For students maybe...not for athletes. We're mostly recruiting LA, AR, MS. Our Texas recruiting is mostly in the Houston area. According to Rivals we have about 135 football offers out and about 10 are in the Dallas area.

You keep arguing about this and he has said multiple times he's talking about admissions recruiting.

Football recruiting isn't the only reason you make decisions on bowl games.

Dallas & Houston are two of Tech's largest alumni bases. I think it makes sense for more reasons than who we need on O-Line next year.

Sounds to me like UAB is going to be left hanging.

Which is really a shame and frankly I'm kinda surprised. As sick as it may seem, I figured the UAB story would make for good television but this report just goes to show that ESPN is going to back BAMA no matter what. 03-no

No bowl wants to be a funeral...or a protest. They want to be fun and UAB's last second on the clock would be tears win or lose.

A shame, but probably how it is.

I certainly hope UAB gets something. There is no rhyme or reason to some of these bowl assignments, though. Makes me miss the simplicity of FCS bracket.
