RE: You get what you wish for
Everyone here knows who the leader in hitting "Report" is.

There has been a little mod over-reaction to the "Fire Fleck" thread and fall out, but probably to be expected.

I hope we can get past this episode...and move onto the next pissing match topic.

Any speculation of what that topic will be?

I speculate something to do with the basketball team being perceived to be under performing.

Did you not see my question? Here, I will repeat it...Who is the "leader"?

Or is this some sort of coach learning experience drivel, asking me to do my own investigation, based upon your post regarding a "leader."

BTW, my in box is equally full of messages from people on both sides of the recent pissing match. Seems there are multiple "leaders".

Now back to my question, which I thought was simple...Who is the "leader" you were referencing?

Major, it is really not just you...and perhaps I do it too. Maybe it is unintentional. But I get sick reading posts where people say something about another poster, alluding to who the poster is, but not specifically naming the poster.

I like it more when people are upfront with their posts.

Well, he has multiple IDs, so hard to pick one. Especially since he got banned under his original (real) name.

The hired hand whose job it is to make anything-anybody remotely negative or critical on here go away, keep everything positive whether it's in line with reality or not.

Capiche?

If you're referring to me, I do not have multiple ID's and that's been stated on the record MANY times in the last several weeks. That schtick is getting old.

Quote:I haven't seen anyone getting banned over pissing matches. I've seen them getting banned over flaming, rep. abuse, and personal attacks -- all of which are laid out very clearly in the AUP.

Well, the difference between "pissing matches" and "flaming, personal attacks" -- is pretty Subjective -- close to synonyms by many people's accounts where they'd overlap... just a "tolerable amount" vs "too much" and/or personal interpretation of it being this-way vs that-way in it's mantra.

First, I don't know what DB's latest posts were to get him 'banned' again, so I can't say whether his latest one is understandably warranted or not. I know he can be more than a jerk sometimes -- he doesn't like being challenged with any attitude, and will up the ante in response and is usually willing to "play the 'pen!s' game" against anyone (if anyone doesn't know what that game is, I played it in college; preferrably at Denny's -- people take turns saying the word 'pen!s', as the next person has to say louder than the previous... the first one to chicken out saying it louder on their turn, loses).

IMO, I can't complain if someone's being too stir-the-pot and they're banned for a day, after Warnings thrown were not phasing them, after they've already been told countless times to keep their attitude on a bit of a lower-level. But I'd also think it would be unfair if someone were being banned sticking up for themselves in an otherwise non-controversial "pissing match", and having a bit of swagger that folks don't like Because "it's that guy" (but objectively not crossing any lines).

People have got personal and have been childish for years. No heavy moderation, nor was anyone crying for it.

The heavy moderation came about after the subpoenas. I get wanting to avoid going down that road, but banning over pissing matches isn't warranted.

I appreciate your perspective, but from mine this is the worst it has ever been by a long shot.

And for the record I was starting to clamp down on things well before the subpoena. That's just what brought things to a head.

We have a fundamental difference of opinion.

If you want to wallow in the pro and anti DB crowd poo flinging ... I suggest you encourage all parties involved to take all their poo posts to the WMU smack board. Because there is no more future for it on the non-smack boards.

Attitute reflects leadership

Step 1) Have two groups of staggeringly petty and asinine people hate each other.

Step 2) Have them use absolutely every facet of the site to try to get a rise out of the other side. Posts to PMs to Rep.

Step 3) Have them spiral increasingly out of control turning the board into their personal battleground with brief discussion of WMU.

Step 4) Burn the existing moderator out under the barrage of incessant complaints from both sides and from bystanders caught in the crossfire.

Step 5) Have all that crap now directed at you instead.

Step 6) Let that simmer and steep for a good year.

Step 7) Now add a lawsuit.

Step 8) Have the poo flinging reach Biblical proportion immediately before, during, and after said lawsuit.

Step 9) Install new mods. In just days they start getting annoyed with the status quo.

Step 10) Drop the hammer to put a stop to this.

Step 11) WHAT'S WITH THE MODERATION BRAH? OMG THIS IS TOTAL FASCIST BS I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS WTF MAN?

I'd sure you'd be a regular ray of sunshine yourself.

The proponents and participants of this poo flinging are gonna learn: the two sides can ignore each other or they can take it to the smack board. But the days of this board being a battleground are over. Further poo flinging will be given swift and severe punishment. That is the law of the land. Discussion over.
