Well, yeah -- and deservingly getting "oh, come on WMU83, seriously?" is fine. But banned meaning Crossing the Line... you can't "stir up the pot" by putting up a link to another place of people talking about a vague gossip-rumor, and saying ya hope it's not true (even if tongue-in-cheek)? Again, I can see the whole "Hey, it's WMU83, he knew he was trying to bring potentially drama-inducing gossip talk into things by posting that link of another forum...." OK. So we can't do that.... or just trouble-makers can't due to them walking a fine line?

I'm not saying that argumentatively, just an honest question.

Quote:why was a little trash talk by NIU deleted last night?

Because it was Crossing the Line, apparently. 03-wink Not that I have any sympathy for the NIU poster even though the post wasn't that bad, don't get me wrong...

Charm, BC, and Chuck thanks...you know what I'm talking about. I'm going to continue to stand up to them and all their negativity...some of it is just uncalled for on this forum.

I see DB is banned again. Its like a revolving door around here.

What message board violation occurred this time?

Can the mods post a PDF with the code of conduct manual from BroncoStampede. Im concerned I may violate it. 03-pissed

Chip ... remove the sand from your v*****. This board has been falling precipitously more and more out of control to the point that a lawsuit came into play. And now that help has been called in to patch the leaks and bilge pump the boat before she sinks you're decrying how the people who drilled the hole in the boat are now being punished instead of being able to get away with it? PFFFFFFFFFFT.

If this board loses a half dozen professional trolls so be it. Addition through subtraction.

If you want to say PJ Fleck is the worst coach in the history of college football ... you go right ahead. If you want to say that you'd rather attend CMU than see one more game where (insert bozo here) was coaching it, you go right ahead. But trying to 05-stirthepot like this over the pricks on this board getting their LONGGGGGGGGGGGGG overdue moderation aint gonna fly. I'll ban you my **** self if I need to.

WMU83, DB, Chipdip, and all other Ray Watts may direct their complaints to the dedicated Bronco Stampede Troll Complaint Department here:

RE: You get what you wish for
The problem I'm seeing is the moderation has gone beyond "the Fleck rumors." It has gotten very chippy. For the record this is the third board that WMU has had in the last dozen or so years. The two that went under pretty much went under when the moderation got too heavy handed.

And if you want to ban me for making this statement, then you've just proved my point.

The problems have gone well beyond "the Fleck rumors". DB and his little team and Hoe and his little team have been throwing poo over the most petty and asinine of crap for years. If the hill you want to die on is defending DB's behavior on this board go right ahead.

Wait... I have a team? 03-confused

But seriously, DB and 83's recent "bannings" seem legitimate to me because they were completely against the AUP.

It's pretty easy... follow the rules you signed up for when you created the account... and you'll be just fine.

RE: You get what you wish for
The board needed an interested moderator. It was an embarrassment, it drove people away who might have had some interesting perspective and it was frankly tiresome. There is no reason we can't all exist here with our various opinions and perspectives without it devolving into what it was. It is not some kind of slippery slope to stalinism if there is some interest in enforcing the AUP.

RE: You get what you wish for
I have reached out to DB. However he is now banned, but I think others are passing messages along. DB has a history of being a good contributor. I hope he can get back that swagger. He did not get to 33000 posts by being a buffoon.

I have been involved with the message boards for about 10 years +/- and never witnessed anything like the current mess.

I hope people can take a breather and get back to quality WMU discussion.

Lately a lot of people have been focusing on each other more than WMU.

More arbitrary negative rep. points for absolutely no reason... thanks belt. 03-thumbsup

There are a few people here who seem to think I have an "agenda".

So what is my "agenda" exactly? Really curious. Because I would love to set the record straight on that (for those that would actually listen).

According to your bio you joined in July. So you're the standard bearer of this forum.

You remind me of first year employees who try and enlighten us with the latest and the greatest new idea. Only, we'd tried that same idea four times in the last 20 years they've just repackaged it under a new name.

Some of these people have been posting on various boards since 1999. It's not like we haven't seen chit before.

For those who don't know 83s history, he was posting as a Bronco fan since he was 14 living in New Jersey. He had close ties to the Cubit family and chose to leave New Jersey and come to Western Michigan. So for those who don't see him as loyal to WMU you're full of chit. He may have been over the top with his criticism of Fleck, but that doesn't mean he's a dangerous poster with designs on destroying WMU. He's loyal to WMU and he's loyal to the Cubits.

As for driving off major contributors to this forum, who were they? I can't think of any who left permanently. The ones who usually left temporarily left when "their sport" was down, but returned during good seasons, and then blamed their departure on forum nonsense. Furthermore, for every "valuable poster" who left another seemed to take their place. Others left and returned under a new name.

As for the Fire Fleck drama, that too gets interesting. Through many conversations during the inquisition many of us found out some interesting things. Most interesting was the original source. No, not the person who posted the rumor here, but the person/persons who put it out "there" (in the community). That little trail of bread crumbs is very telling, and helped explain why and who our names were passed on to after the subpoena. It's a CYA world.

I like the boat "analogy". :)

I like the chip "analogy". :)

But I agree with you on that sentence. Mud slinging / issues of warnings, potential bans, etc. was existent before, during, and after the height of the FF thread...

Well, at least you don't have a Vagenda... right?

... now on the topic of "You get what you wish for", I'm really curious to know if I have a vagenda coming my way, and if that's a bad or good thing -- as that gal's pretty cute!

The heavy moderation came about because things got absurdly personal and childish. The heavy moderation will go away when that crap ends.

People have got personal and have been childish for years. No heavy moderation, nor was anyone crying for it.

The heavy moderation came about after the subpoenas. I get wanting to avoid going down that road, but banning over pissing matches isn't warranted.

RE: You get what you wish for
There's little Fleck can say or do that'll win over anyone with a personal or professional connection to the Cubit family. Especially if the termination proceedings didn't quite go as amiably as it could (allegedly).

Too difficult to read into the hearts and minds of message board posters. But while I think there's still loyalty to the WMU team as a whole, there exists schadenfreude when Fleck loses or fails in some capacity (i.e., "sticking it" to an AD and President who canned a close family friend). At least that's my read on it.

I haven't seen anyone getting banned over pissing matches. I've seen them getting banned over flaming, rep. abuse, and personal attacks -- all of which are laid out very clearly in the AUP.

The pissing matches are still there (otherwise you, me and a few other posters wouldn't be here right now).
