You guys are going bowling, I can feel it in my bones.

Either that, or it's going to rain tomorrow.

Bowls often have double back ups---I know the Indy does. The Big 12 and Big-10 are the main backups in Ft Worth. Ft Worth Bowl also has ties to CUSA. Those relationships can make a big difference in these situations.

No, but the bowl has ties to the Big-12, Big-10, and CUSA. Those relationships make a big difference in these situations.

the only bottom barrell b-eligible team in CUSA I can think of that would be an equal draw to TXST is maybe Rice.

No way UTEP draws a better crowd than us.

Who do you have faith in? CUSA's commissioner and UTEP's AD, or Larry & Karly (with no Moe).

UTEP travels pretty well and its been awhile since they had a bowl. That said, I think they are an automatic fit for New Mexico. Rice or LaTech would be likely be your CUSA competition.

TXST does not deserve to be sitting home. Does not.

My personal belief of the pecking order is that it should have been 1) ULL, 2) TXST, 3) stAte, 4) USA

Very sorry TXST. Hope you are able to secure another spot.

We have some practice in appealing. Will that help?

No seriously Texas ST. deserves to be bowling. For the Texas bowls Texas St. does have a better chance getting one than does South Alabama, so maybe hopefully it will all work out so all 4 bowl eligible teams go bowling.

I think those back up agreements are pretty sketchy. TX St in the Armed Forces Bowl would be a much better sell then a 6-6 CUSA. I think they get it.

UTEP and Mike Price brought the smallest crowd EVER to the GoDaddy Bowl. They sold less than 300 tickets.

It wont be the Armed Forces. CUSA has the backup there behind the Big-12/Big-10. If I had to guess, I think the Bobcats best shot will be in Boise. They need to hope Boise gets the G5 access bowl slot and that the Cactus Bowl needs to use thier MW backup option. Those two events are pretty likley. If that happens, the Potato Bowl will be open against a MAC team. Thats where I think the Bobcats will have a good shot. That said--you never know. There is a lot of horse trading that goes on. Plus, this is the first year of the new bowl agreements. There could be a lot of behind the scenes backups and exceptions that have not been made public yet. Those types of things can change the picture as well.

This is false. The B12 is the backup. There is no backup to the backup. Whoever is stating that is wrong.

No, the indy does not. They have one backup. The mega conference of the AAC/CUSA. Both are co-equals and indy may choose any of the teams in those conferences.

They don't have a backup to the backup. In other words, they don't have a backup to the AAC, for example, and then if the AAC doesn't have any teams available, then they have another backup in CUSA.

This is what people are suggesting the AFB has...and they're wrong.

I have yet to hear anyone justify TXST over USA with sound logic. Arguments for both, location won.

I don't know that I have sound logic other than TXST 7 wins - USA 6 wins but my view is a pretty common view it looks like. Personally, we are both lucky TXST did not take our slot. They let themselves down with bad attendance one night on tv while beating A-State and I think that ended up costing them.

BR Ranking
TXST 93 - USA 95

USA Today
TXST 79 - USA 89

Congrove Computer
TXST 73 - USA 83

CBS Sports
TXST 84 - USA 88

Desimone
TXST 83 - USA 88

SportsUnbiased
TXST 75 - USA 84

Massey
TXST 91 - USA 94

Like maybe a COMMISSIONER?

The guy who has that title prefers to golf, and not re-negoiciate television contracts that actually have SBC teams on TV.

I was at a party next door to his home on Turkey day, and he was out golfing. Yea, if we only had a commissioner. I bet we could find one, but......? We decided to hire a guy who oversaw the demise of the WAC.

Arkansas State, Texas State and USA all ended up with the same conference record of 5-3. Since no one team swept the other two, the next tie breaker should be overall record. Texas State and Arkansas State should both rank ahead of USA with an overall record of 7-5. Texas State should have the tie breaker with Arkansas State because we won the head-to-head match up.

We can never win the location argument with USA. But out of 64 schools with 7 or more wins, we will be the only school at home for the holidays. That does not seem right when a 6-6 team from our own conference is getting in. That should not make anyone at Texas State happy.
