Watts happened to UAB; Trojan Horse
President Watts is a Trojan Horse, carefully designed to destroy UAB athletics and to hobble the growth of the UAB undergraduate program. History will be written this week by the decisions of a President and a Board of Trustees that have shown no indications of caring about the UAB students, athletes, coaches, donors, fans or the City and state around them.

UAB fans have been accused for years of being paranoid, but its now clear to the rational world that reality may be even worse than what we suspected. A small group of powerful men have irrationally purposed to destroy a blossoming football program, and a vastly improved womens athletic program, but the intended damage goes much, much deeper than athletics. The ultimate goal is to limit future undergraduate growth at UAB in order to limit the perceived threat to the tuscaloosa campus. Evidence supporting this includes what has been done repeatedly to the UAB school of business and the honors program more recently.

One self evident fact is that no rational president or board would even think of self imposing the death penalty on a beloved underdog football program while simultaneously engaged in a ONE BILLION DOLLAR CAPITAL CAMPAIGN! That equates to donor suicide. Such a scenario is very strong evidence that the threat to kill football is not driven by a rational thought process, but instead by emotional driving forces, most likely malice, greed and cowardice.

Further, the leader of the BOT, mr bryant, has historical and highly personal reasons for wanting to destroy UAB athletics, as has been well documented. The fact that the multi billion dollar three campus system has a Board led by a gambling magnate, Mr bryant, is beyond ridiculous. Several board members have family or personal employment related to mr bryants bank. Oh, and the governor is chairman of the UA board and once had mr bryant as his campaign finance manager. Conflicts of interest anyone?

Apparently, according to former UAB head coach garrick mcgee, who mysteriously resigned at the end of last season, this plan to shut down football has been in motion prior to the present football season. However, according to Dr Watts no decision will be made until the results of a thorough study of football viability is delivered by a consulting firm. Rumor is that the preliminary report came back positive and was sent back for a reevaluation. The point is that the plan to shut down UAB football has been in process for multiple years. Watts lied to Coach Clark and the public regarding intentioms for.football.

And to date president watts has avoided all communication with his staff or student athletes regarding their futures. Its clear that he prefers to shift funds from football to his medical school, of which he is the.former dean. At this point the leader has completely avoided even the remotest appearance of either leadership or caring about his staff and students. Only a frigid, empty, glaring silence to address the rumors and innuendo he publicly criticized in his only eecent oublic ststement.. Watts will never be able to lead with any legitimacy or trust at UAB again.

So no one in power, either carefully selected.president or board of trustees shows any evidence of caring about UAB athletics or undergraduate programs.

The degree of abuse of power, conflict of interest public lies, poor stewardship and political corruption leave a trail that beckons some ambitious, courageous investigative reporter to a pulitzer level once in a career behind the scenes story of how the corrupt leadership of the tremendously successful and elite University of Alabama is seeking to destroy the underdog little football program at their sister school, UAB just as UAB football is making phenomenal progress in all key metrics of success. Ironically the lions share of the UA system funding is earned by UAB, not the tuscaloosa campus.

Oh, and to further sweeten the irony, UAB is the largest employer in the state of Alabama. Whats good for UAB is good for Alabama. Likewise whats bad for UAB...but apparently no one in power cares enough to stand up to the malice of a few corrupt men. Thus, history is written in Alabama.

When does Watts get his golden parachute and NDA? It can't come soon enough. There's no way he can survive this.

Could it be the thinking of the BOT that with the UAB athletic programs demolished, the millionaires who support the Crimson Tide's programs might be induced / inclined to switch some of their giving to the UAB medical establishment making up for the smaller amounts we represent? After all, they have never accepted that it didn't belong to them in the first place.

If enough 01-scout gets thrown, Watts may have to go back to work , because he will get nothing, and like it.

I just wonder if Carr Consulting has been contacted about this story. He may enjoy some negative publicity over all this should they not follow what is recommended(if good or bad). They may be the scapegoats and not even know it, especially if purporting negative info on University impact. Who would hire their asses in the future? I think PB Jr and the rest of the crooks will be trying to circle the wagons soon as national pressure builds. Just like Wallace stood in the doorway and set our state back decades, Watts and these BOT members aren't on campus but there is a figurative Doorway blocking us from excellence and impeding our progress.

I hope the smart board members will come out in support of UAB and distance themselves from the 70 yr old carcass and his sidekicks and let the finger pointing begin within the group of crooks. Someone in this band of misfits will want to save face or finally decide to stand up for what is right for UAB. Sooner the better for them.

Carr ain't saying a got damn thing. His response to my inquiry about who initiated the study:

"Thank you for your inquiry today.

Any comments regarding the UAB study will come from the University."

So how do we put the public spotlight on Carrs potential role in threatening UAB athletics? No sane athletics consultant would want to be branded as the destroyer of an entire football program. How.about a social media campaign aimed at emphasizing the importance of their role in this plot? Perhaps it would cause them to be extra careful not to cook the books toward the answers watt demanded. It will be interestimg to see if their analysis includes the 2014 season.

Does Carr & Associates have a mailing address or any form of contact information?

Nice stuff here.
1)I like the idea of shining a light on Carr. At some point law suits will come from HCBC, the current freshman recruits who came to UAB under false circumstances, etc. And then Carr will be put under oath and a question of "who knew what when", will have to be answered.

2) The imagery of the governor blocking the doorway is magnificent. I think if that starts to show up in the narrative, this story becomes huge.

Under the present circumstances, I hope you're right, but the damage has already been done...Not to say that it should go unchallenged.
