Most think it is a long shot at best so no not many at all. Honestly if we had not won the conference I would not have cared about it at all. I just think an undisputed conference champion is a lot different than a 6-6 team.
I hope the rule does change for any future teams. Who cares if it is your first year the better teams deserve the bowl games how is that hard to understand? It was not meant to keep folks out of bowls it was to keep teams from moving up which it never did.
I put our chances at about 10%, only because we traveled well and we were undisputed conference champs. Honestly it would just be unexpected icing on the cake for this year for me. I am more bummed on missing out on the extra practice than the actual game.

No, you're appeal now is denied, and then the ruling will be changed 2 weeks from now when you cant do anything about it.
umm.... we submitted a waiver, which was denied. We appealed, and are supposed to hear a decision by 5pm today.....
Pretty sure he's alluding to the fact that the Ray Rice nonsense changed direction in Rice's favor, but only after so much time has elapsed that his season is done anyways.
ah. I guess I've read so much stupidity on this board in the last 2 days it is lowering my reading comprehension. lol

I've maintained all along that our best chance of making a bowl stems not from number of wins or a conference championship or even an undefeated conference record.
Our best bet is that the NCAA will continue its storied tradition of being recklessly arbitrary with its rulings. As far as controversial or dubious NCAA rulings go, putting the Eagles into the bowl field at the 11th hour wouldn't even make their top-25.

I'm just ready for this to be decided already so we can all move on. I feel TXST has a 50-50 shot at on of the three bowls as it is. GS winning the appeal would bump that down a lot. But the odds of an Armed Forces type bowl won't be affected.
They should not win the appeal. But if they did, they should be treated as Sun Belt champions and accomodated FIRST just as the bylaws say they should be treated. As we said last year....the bylaws are not guidelines.
I say if they win the appeal, we should let them represent the Sunbelt in all 3 bowl games.

That's probably your best bet. I don't know if you have heard, but we are pretty used to playing multiple post season games.

Indeed, plus there's enough ego to easily cover 3 games.

RE: Bowl Info: Georgia Southern Appeal to be voted on tonight
"If my concern were for the team to get post-season every year I wouldn't break eggs and make the FBS omelette."
Where did I say anything about getting "to post-season every year?"
But we do expect our teams to go "to post-season every year" and why not they have for 25 out of the last 30 years and obviously this year did nothing to change our expectations!
But our expectations has nothing to do with this team going to a bowl game!
While they may not get to one this year because of a very questionable NCAA rule and will surely be disappointed. I expect they will accept it with the same outstanding class they won football games with!
And no rule is going to change the fact that our players deserve to go to a bowl game! In case anyone has forgotten they did something no other team did! They went 8 & 0 in the conference!

I never understood why people take things so personally on this board it is supposed to be for fun. Hell when I signed up I just used my old gamer tag that I used to scare away asians thinking noone would ever get butt hurt from a guy calling himself Godzilla. Georgia Southern fans need to just chill and take this board's smack talk with a grain of salt.
I guess the problem is that GS fans are used to smack talk being on the smack forum. Seems like a lot trash talks stays on the main board, so GS fans assume it's not tongue-in-cheek or sarcasm and believe the poster really believes what they are typing. I'm still learning, but try to assume any negative/troll comment is just to get another poster and not actually what they think. That way it is more enjoyable to visit these boards.

If you are ANGRY at Georgia Southern and our fan base please direct your negative energy to the teams listed above. They only had one job & they all failed!
Thanks,

Wow those South Georgia fans are so endearing.
They are the worst.
Eastern Georgia
Only thing that campus is south of is the state line, and they hate being called Eastern Georgia...

I apologize for using almost curse words. I will try not to do that anymore.
We don't fault Georgia Southern fans for being fans, but we do fault people for stirring the pot, both Georgia Southern and non Georgia Southern fans.
95 percent of this thread began because we had a poster make a comment that was intentionally designed to rile someone else up. We're not going to be able to tolerate that much more if this is the end result.
If you're referring to my post, it wasn't intended to "rile" anyone up. It was literally to point out how incredibly juvenile GSU fans were acting on this issue and express my frustration. What anyone did with that afterwards is on them.
If you're not referring to my post, then I'm glad. I just don't want anyone assigning intent of what I posted.

Where are you guys getting this 5 PM nonsense? Don't think I've seen that from a credible source yet (granted, I don't know who you guys are, but you see what I'm saying).
I guess one of you could be Mark Emmert for all I know.
