RE: Target - Boca Bowl.
Wouldn't we have to get an invitation over a 7-5 CUSA team to go to this bowl? Could that realistically happen?

I live in Boca and UAB playing its last ever game in a sold out 30000 seat boca bowl would be kinda awesome. It would also be a bright shining middle finger to baby bear.

Bowl games usually cost the smaller schools more money. I highly doubt that the administration would front the costs for a program they've already shown they don't want.

Can we get Tristan Henderson moved to DE for the bowl game ?

His stat line would be : 6 sacks, 7 TFL, minus 146 yardage, 2 INT, 1 TD, two right tackles give up, opponent now playing 2 TE's on his side. And Clark holds him out of the second half.

I am talking to people close to the situation. It's not delusional. Its still a long shot but if things break right we will be bowling. We still must put fourth an effort.

Good luck. I would love to be wrong. But I can't see them spending the money or anybody's heart being in it at this point. Our last game was Southern Miss. Our heart was in that game and it showed. We still had a little hope that day...that hope has been destroyed by little bear.

I sent an email to them this morning at 1:45.

Told them if they invited us, we'd walk on glass to get to Boca Raton.

UAB's Ty Long lines up for a 56 yard field goal with three seconds remaining. The Blazers trail Bowling Green 41-39. 15,000 screaming Blazer fans, led by President Watts, anxiously await the kick. The ball is snapped, Ty swings his leg, the kick is in the air, its, its, its......Good!!!!! Pandemonium ensues, as the Blazers carry Coach Bill Clark to midfield. President Watts joins Coach Clark to accept the Bowl Championship Trophy on behalf of the school.

Interviewed later, AD Brian Mackin reports that the bowl cost the school $750,000; which was personally approved by President Watts, because "it's the right thing to do." President Watts was unavailable, as he was traveling to San Antonio, TX for the UAB rifle team national tournament.

I can't see the school funding a three quarter million dollar bowl trip for a team in a sport that will not exist going forward.

If everyone is buying tickets like we say we are then it won't cost us $750K. We sell our allotment and then get bowl revenue on top of that - we make money.

No team makes money on a bowl game, not even BSC Bowls. The expense is just too great. Alabama lost $1MM on there last NC game. And the Boca Bowl Revenue is minimal. Good idea, and I wish it were the case that our team could go, but I think $750K is a conservative estimate of cost to participate.

I've been involved on the finance side of a similar local bowl game in the past. It is a very expensive proposition for the teams, and no real way to do it on the cheap that I can see.
