Benson should be burning up the wire night and day trying to ensure both USA and TXST get into a bowl this year...

And go where? FCS? 03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

not without another invite of course... but TXST wouldn't be a hard sell to CUSA or the MWC if realignment were to occur again.

we may need the belt for now, but the belt needs us even more than we need them. Keeping us happy should be on Benson's mind... pissing us off would be stupid.

To push us out of our first potential bowl trip when we already completed the transition in favor of a GS that hasn't paid it's dues yet would be incredibly disrespectful to TXST and USA.

Georgia Southern and App state deserve to be in Bowl Games.

Unfortunately, the NCAA is a corrupt institution, and deserve has nothing to do with Bowl Selections most of the time.

Benson already said if he has his way, the existing members would receive a bid before App and GS. At the end of the day, the bowls decide so TX St couldn't be mad at the conference.

I understand the rule. Doesn't mean it is a good rule that has any merit in today's Football landscape, I am talking just on football merit and play.

The NCAA is a morally bankrupt institution, and talking about their stupid, ineffective bureacratic procedures is just dreadful btw!

PS - don't fret - Texas State deserves a shot too!

The rule was asked for by FCS.
Along with changes to FBS membership standards to discourage schools like App and Georgia Southern moving to FBS.

No, but we can get fed up with our position in the Sun Belt and move on the moment another conference comes calling. The Sun Belt isn't exactly the ideal place for us right now. The Belt should be doing everything in its power to become an ideal fit for us... or they will eventually lose us too.

Not to mention...
As Cajun Country said...
The fact that UL has a stranglehold on the NO bowl and USA will likely have an advantage over TXST for the foreseeable future for postseason play because 2 of our 3 bowl tie-ins are in Alabama is already enough for TXST to consider looking for greener pastures.

If that is the reason, the rule even dumber than I already thought. Is a two year postseason ban really going to discourage a school from moving up? No. Therefore all it is doing is punishing schools for no real reason.

TXST ain't going anywhere anytime soon. One is because of our AD and the other is the lack of options. Even if CUSA lost UAB or others, it would take the loss of 1-2 Texas schools for them to consider adding another one. As for the MWC, they seem perfectly happy with their number and i don't expect that they get raided anytime soon either.

SBC is a fine fit. The conference will keep adding bowl options as teh conference multipler grows. I'm for being in a conference with Texas schools but enjoy the quite a few schools in this conference as well.

silly to argue about anyhow.

Georgia Southern's waiver request was denied... they can appeal, but there is pretty much no chance the initial ruling will be overturned.

Texas State fans are excited, because they might have been sitting at home otherwise.

Yep. Dead issue. I did not think NCAA would grant the waiver anyway. I hope Texas St. gets a bowl game.

USA fans more so. I doubt they would have gotten an at-large invite. We have a slim chance at least.

Considering USA will have an identical league record (if TXST beats GSU) and won the head to head meeting between the two, and played a tougher out of conference schedule (2 SEC teams and 0 FCS), I think we would have as good a shot at an at-large pick as TXST, as slim as it may be.

This has nothing to do with corruption. They agreed to the rules when they went FBS.

Except we have a better overall record.

I know you guys replaced "our" FCS game with a P5 game, but do you really think the bowl committees care about that?

The article I read on Bobcatfans.com (too lazy to go back and look it up) said that you guys have one more appeal left.

So NOT QUITE dead.

From what we're hearing it does make a difference.

yeah... but didn't USA manage only 10,000 fans in their last home game? Was one of the most important games jag football history as well.

and when I said our chances might be better I wasn't thinking of our record... I'm talking about the small possibility of us slipping into a Texas bowl because of our location.
