Just as importantly, Keatts is just a great personality. Very down to earth and welcoming to anyone who wants to speak to him. He's enthusiastic about basketball, and excited about what is shaping up at UNCW. And, his connections to the high school recruiting circuit are second to none. This guy not only knows where the best players are, he is a top notch recruiter and is signing players we have only dreamed about in the past.

Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall flew into town multiple times this summer, walked into North Meck High School's gym and tried to lure Viking senior C.J. Bryce to his powerhouse program that has won 65 games in two years. Wichita State has a lot to offer, and while he was honored to be pursued by a program that went 35-1 last season and reached the 2013 Final Four, Bryce declined. Wichita entered the recruiting process late, but the Shockers' interest should tell you what you need to know about the 6-foot-5 guard/forward.
He can play.
"He had a lot of offers," says North coach Duane Lewis. "He can do a lot of things, can play multiple positions."
Bryce is headed to UNC-Wilmington instead, as new coach Kevin Keatts, Rick Pitino's former associate head coach at powerhouse Louisville, tries to revamp a program that has struggled to 65 wins in six years, much less two. But Bryce is excited to be a part of changing the culture.
