I don't think Bentley's statement bodes well for us at all. He drove the point home. Period.

Like Pontius Pilate.

I suppose the parallel here would be that the BOT are the Romans, Watts is Judas, Clark is Jesus, and Mackin is Peter?

Even with our administrations fudging down the attendance, we are 5th in CUSA and 3rd in the state.

I guess he hasn't been to a game this year.

I hadn't thought it that far through, but that's not bad. 03-lol

RE: Gov. Bentley on UAB FOOTBALL
UAT plays Western Carolina and Auburn plays Samford at 7:00 PM. Temperature projected 50-60 degrees (much warmer than today).

UAB vs Marshall is the biggest game in the state, with bowl eligibility on the line vs an undefeated team looking for a Peach Bowl bid, and we have had news coverage all week long. If we are going to outperform on our attendance, this is the week to do it.

As for the under-reporting of attendance, some students need to walk along the field and take LOTS of pictures. If we even threaten to prove their count wrong with visual proof, it would make it very risky for them to undercut us by more than a couple hundred. We need 25k+ butts in seats. If there was a November to have 30k+, this would be it even if we were not fighting for our lives.

Who can I buy a ticket for?

RE: Gov. Bentley on UAB FOOTBALL
We have a similar attendance to that of at least 1/2 the teams playing division 1 football right now. Watch TV. It is readily apparent 03-razz

We would hard sell out smaller stadiums I am seeing out there like ODU, WKU, etc. regularly

If you let the argument become about attendance in a debate with someone who thinks 100K+ is average you will lose.

Brush this aside like the smoke and mirrors it is.

Governor, I and my republican state senator support self-determination for UAB so we can count our attendance by ourselves. I also vote in primaries. Every single time.

With all of that said, the best way to support the team has always been to buy tickets officially (season and otherwise) and show up to the games. <---if you are on this board making noise and you haven't done this last part then you need to STFU until you do.

I was thinking the same thing. This game has all the ingredients for anybody who remotely supports UAB football to show up or shut up:

-- Bowl eligibility up for grabs
-- Ranked/undefeated opponent
-- UA & AU playing practice games later in the day
-- Perfect football weather
-- Recent attention/BOT/Watts, etc.

Once and for all, we will see how many people care for UAB football.

& we will also see how our administration really wants the totals to be reported.

From the looks of the LA Tech game, some people have already given up the fight. I would be surprised with anything over the low teens.

Piss in someone's face long enough, and that's what you get.

The BoT has hamstrung the program at every opportunity, driven support into the ground, and then can throw their hands up and say, "What a shame. Guess the only humane thing to do is end it."

I just voted for him again this month. He says he loves everyone in Alabama. He should certainly demonstrate it in this regard.

I'm also not a one issue voter. And the worst thing in the world would be to have UAB vs UAT come down to party affiliation because of some weird putsch on our fanbase (a fanbase that I'd like to hope still comes in a myriad of colors, opinions, and backgrounds).

I guess this is the part where I disclose that my personal response from the republican state senator (not a UA alum btw) said that the bill to separate which he has supported in the past came down to too much opposition in the house from UA grads.

So after painting yourselves in a corner you guys are going to give up?

That's rich...

Step 1) don't make a single game or games out into some damned referendum on our program. THEY didn't do that to us. YOU guys are doing it.

This whole mess is giving battle in the opponents country under unfavorable terms.

If YOU frame the discussion YOU set the victory conditions.

This wouldn't be PBJ's first rodeo with the "Tijuana Hot Plate."

Who set attendance as the benchmark goal? Us? No. Those words about attendance came out of the governor's mouth.
