Bohn says Gene Smith told him no on basketball. OSU still refusing to play UC in bball
F@ck em..just F@ck em..Let them be 15-0 every year to start,
then take a swan dive when they have to play AWAY games.
Thad has to realize how patently stupid he looks (they did play
and lose to UL this year).
Contrary to Urban,,Thad's recruiting and talent evaluation is more suited for the MAC.

Maybe we are squeezing them in tighter in the end zones and upper deck.
This seems to be what several posters are guessing in several different posts. No inside info here, but I doubt it based upon Bohn's comments. Attending games in person is becoming much more about amenities - lumbar support, padded seats, cupholders, concessions, restrooms, etc. I'm not sure how narrowing seats fits into that narrative. Overall seat comfort or lack thereof is probably one of the biggest deal breakers especially for anyone getting older or of large size. Even moreso for an outdoor sport that fairly regularly plays in inclement weather (i.e. requiring heavy winter coats, raincoats, umbrellas, etc.) where space becomes even more of a premium.

It's really funny this got brought up. Last Friday I was driving to Cleveland and I tuned into the local Columbus sports talk station. They have a good product there (despite being almost exclusively Ohio State talk) because you can tell the owners of the station actually invest and they have local programming for the majority of the day, but I digress. I heard multiple callers referencing how they wish OSU would play more local teams in the nonconference, such as UC, XU and UD. The hosts had some great reactions when UD got brought up after last year. So it looks like our fans and coaches aren't the only ones who want to get this done, just the OSU brass feeling like they've got too much to lose.

Bohn did also mention that all the bench seats would be capped to make them more comfortable.

The truth is, the $uckeyes are right. They have more to lose than to gain. imagine if they had to deal with the publicity of the loss to Dayton once or twice a year. This way, they avoid the embarrassment altogether. What gets me is that they have no shame for ducking us or all the other local teams. it's one thing to fear losing credibility, but if you're going to be a coward about it, admit to being a coward. it's the arrogance that bothers me. i can deal with the fact that they are scared, but to be an arrogant coward is what truly angers me.

I don't understand the thought of going to NKU. People whine now that students don't travel well to Downtown/PBS. At least Downtown or the Gardens is centrally located. I understand the preference for you N. KY fans. But, if they play at NKU, they will lose the Butler/Warren county crowd during that time frame.
I would think UC would be getting one H3LL of a deal on rent to play at the Gardens. Me thinks that is why that place is even an option. NO SECURITY DEPOSIT AND FREE HEAT!!

It's all of 5 minutes away from downtown. With ease of parking right outside the arena fans would likely be in their seats in less time at NKU than at US Bank.

Plus most of those seats are closer to the action and much newer. As I said, the only problem I'd have is the amateurishness spawning from having televised games between UC and NOT NKU with NKU court branding.

I imagine state and local politics could factor in as well. A public institution located in Ohio would probably get some heat for going out of state and taking tax dollars into Kentucky. One or two games would be acceptable based on scheduling conflicts but twenty home games at NKU isn't workable.

I don't think most people will see it like that, though. I'll admit, my first thought was "In Kentucky? No way." Even if it isn't far into KY, it still feels like a bit further for the casual fan. Don't think it would be a big issue for season ticket holders, but I think there would be a few 4k games there. Plus, it's even further for students. We have enough trouble getting them downtown two exits away.

RE: UC Athletics Town Hall Meeting - Dec. 11
Heard from a connected friend a couple days ago(take it for what it may be worth as things are fluid and change) that the 5/3 renovation will happen and will start after the 2015 season. Since some of the same info I heard was talked about last night so I feel comfortable sharing a little more.
A large portion of the funding for the renovations has already been raised (via pledges)
2016 season will be most likely be played in the Cintas center.
Will be announced soon.
I laughed when I was told Cintas Center. I told him that there is a faction of fans that would not go to the games because of Xavier. The more I think about it the more logical it sounds. Downtown is hard because of parking. XU is a stones throw from campus and parking is easy. Maybe this is a leverage move to get a better deal downtown.
I say no for gardens. Area and facility is a dump.
I say no for NKU. It's in Kentucky, although it's easily accessed via 275 and 471
I say no for eggsavier. Out of principal
I also firmly believe all this money being poured into athletics is for a reason. The administration has been working behind closed doors and is close to being invited into the county club. There has been a lot of smoke recently and with the 5/3 renovations the timing seems logical. Announce a conference move and renovation project at the same time. Feed off the excitement and energy.

The avoidance of UC is ridiculous, but your hate of the Buckeyes is leading to pretty silly comments. Their program has been at a high level since Matta arrive. He's had 2 Final Four appearances and had something like 6 straight Sweet 16s. I would kill for that at UC right now.

I'm okay playing at X as long as they can change the court between games. I'd rather play at US Bank than on Xaviers floor.

Prefer to sit in cat piss than have to set foot on eggsavier soil. This season tix holder will NOT go to games there.
NKU would be my first choice (and I live in West Chester) but I'd be OK with the Coliseum and would tolerate the Gardens for a year.

I thought it was a dump when I was at UC in the late 80s. Some things never change.
