12th Monarchs,
Thank you from our Players and Coaches for an outstanding performance by you in our overtime win vs La Tech on Saturday! You “stepped up your game” on Senior Day in our final home game of 2014. This win put our record at 5-6 overall and 3-4 in C-USA. With a win on Saturday at FAU, we will get to six wins and be bowl eligible in our first season as an FBS program.

We finished 2014 with a 4-2 record and home and extended our consecutive sellout streak to 41 games. We are the only team in the history of college football to sellout every home game we have ever played. You are the reason we continue to make history. As La Tech Head Coach Skip Holtz said to me before the game and I quote; “ It is amazing what your fans have done to help you build this program from scratch.” I could not have said it better myself!

Sadly, we said goodbye at home to 16 very special seniors on Saturday. Thank you all for arriving early to the game to see them off. That is a memory they will carry for the rest of their lives. This group of young men have accomplished great things in their careers at Old Dominion. They have all become future leaders of our country. They will all graduate from Old Dominion. On the field what they have accomplished is remarkable. They were 10-3 in 2011, went to the 2nd round of the FCS playoffs and finished as the No. 10 team in the nation. They were 11-2 in 2012, won the CAA Championship, went to the 2nd round of the FCS playoffs, and finished as the No. 4 team in the nation. In our 1st transition season they went 8-4 and brought Old Dominion our 1st FBS win. They are making history again this year knocking off the No. 1 and No. 2 teams in the C-USA West and playing for a bowl bid this Saturday in Florida. They are 34-15 so far in their four years of playing football. Most impressive to me is how unselfish they have been with our transition to C-USA and the FBS level. They all knew they might not have the opportunity for post season in their junior and senior season, yet they have done everything in their power to represent Old Dominion with class and dignity during our transition.

We will work hard for all of you as we prepare for our final regular season game in Florida on Saturday. Getting bowl eligible would be a remarkable accomplishment for these kids in their 1st season of FBS football. I know you are as proud of this team as I am.

Thank you all for helping Old Dominion build a championship football program!

I wish you all the very best this holiday season!
“AIM HIGH”

Damn, that gives me chills.

I'm still excited for Saturday's win. Let's get that sixth win!

I see that our strength of schedule has moved up to 80th in the country. It is right near the top of Conference USA. If I am reading everything right, with a win next weekend we may finish in 3rd in the Eastern half of the conference. Not too bad!

Yes, a win over FAU coupled with a Marshall win over WKU should land us 3rd.
place in CUSA East. BTW, what was the point spread in the LT game?

I need a FAU win after that basketball game last night. Damn that was horrible to watch and to be done in by the 1-3-1 halfcourt zone defense and my guy Richard Ross had like 3 consecutive turnover in like the first minute. I didn't sleep well last night.

Look at the USA Today football poll (#32) or even the RealtimeRPI rankings for La Tech (#36).

That is one impressive win we just got on Saturday!

Some troll bait for our RealGSU friends, too. Their best win was against #85 South Alabama. Suck on that, Erk Russell!

RE: Louisiana Tech
Also saw that on the USA Today top to bottom poll we are at 93. Doesn't sound all that great but we are sandwiched between Texas Tech and Washington State. Not too shabby for a newbie.

91. Colorado (2-9, 0-8) | 92. Texas Tech (4-7, 2-6) | 93. Old Dominion (5-6, 3-4) – UP 8 | 94. Washington State (3-8, 2-6) | 95. Indiana (3-8, 0-7) | 96. Wyoming (4-7, 2-5) | 97. Tulane (3-8, 2-5) | 98. Purdue (3-8, 1-6) | 99. Louisiana-Monroe (4-7, 3-4) | 100. Hawaii (4-8, 3-4) – UP 7

scans from La Tech report. Look at the LSU article below the major story.

The ODU Brand is established in Louisiana. Maybe we open a pipeline to the state.

On this day in 2014, Dawgass became fixated on hating ODU thanks to Taylor Heinicke connecting with David Washington for the game winning TD over LaTech. Never forget.
