How I became a UAB football fan........................................
2000 I attended the Blazer Memphis football game won by the Blazers 13-9 (1st college game ever) and was impressed by the defense and how the team rallied from a 9-3 deficit (I wish I could find a video copy).Sorry Tim Tebow but Jamil Duggar was the originator of the kneel and give thanks after scoring a TD. As the seasons went by I kept track of games via internet and enjoyed listening to games via the voice of David Crane.I like a lot of you grew a hatred for Paul Bryant Jr. and the evil board of trustees as we were forced to tolerate Neil Calloway, denial of a stadium and now this uncertainty. This haves trying to have it all will eventually destroy college athletics unless the so called lesser programs fight back. But regardless I enjoy watching/listening to Blazer football and hope it continues in the years to come.

I can tell you how I became a UAB Football fan with one word..."Frenchy." He's the one who pretty much "converted" me.

The UAB club team, followed by the first Division 3 team, followed by the first Division 1A team's first game in Auburn where they shocked the Auburn crowd into silence.

I was at that game. First half was awesome. 9 to 0 of memory serves me right. Defense brought it. We hit their qb often and hard. I think it was craig. Fun day. They have avoided us like the plague since. But i appreciate that they were willing. Thats a school and fanbase thats secure enough to coexist with rivals.

1998 Kansas game that UAB lost in 4 OTs. I knew, with time, UAB could defeat any team. If my memory is correct, I went to every home game the next year and bought my first season tickets in 2000.

Daniel Dixon. Rodney Hudson. Rodregis Brooks.
Hackney. White. Leverette. Jeter. Thomas. Evans. Webb....

Gosh, the list goes on and on... UAB is young, but don't say there is no legacy, no history of effort and heart from UAB football players. Many of us witnessed all of it.
If I were to go back through past season programs, there are lots of memorable days, memorable plays, and memorable players. A roll call of young men worthy of better than this unjust treatment of the school they played for.

I was a UAB student and Auburn fan until the second I saw those gold helmets come out of the visitors' tunnel at Jordan-Hare.

My Auburn gear went to the Goodwill the following day.

November 22, 1996 - I believe it was still UAB Arena at the time. Auburn vs. UAB, fell in love with the school that night as a 16 year old kid.

Well for me I was at a sporting store in Dothan, around 6 years of age and I'm
41 now. and a UAB shirt popped out at me, it was Green and Gold and said UAB. Said Go UAB . When I became a Alabama Fan first day I saw Bears Hat. bout 78. The Day I became an Auburn Fan when Pat Dye came from East Carolina. When I became a Florida State fan when I walked up to the Stadium and the Indians where chanting, When I became a Boston College Fan, when Flutie a little white guy ran with the ball when I became a Syracuse fan, when I saw coach at a diner with a Sryacuse hat and he looked like Pat Dye. When I became a Joe Pop Fan when he was blue and white. when I became a Troy fan when never but I live close. when I became a fan.

When Daniel Dixan, ran the ball and never stopped running. When Wayne White from dothan looked a little better the Jason Miska from Auburn. When Brian Smith was a freshman and Watson said to Robert Davis from Homewood from LSU who ran 99 yards against A & M only knew their was one Texas. Robert have you ever seen anything like that. Robert. from Homewood. Coach no, He's a Man. Brian was a freshman. Coach Brown said. He Is.

You are quite impressionable, aren't you?

And I am pretty sure they were not selling UAB shirts in sporting goods stores in Dothan in 1979, when you would have been 6. The UAB bookstore would have been selling all UAB stuff then since the program was about a year old.
