My grandfather used to tell me a story that was essentially this. I cried a lot at the commercial and can't really watch it.

There are some folks in the blogosphere complaining that this moving historical piece was paid for by a grocery store chain.
Given the general public's knowledge of history, I'd say we need more such pieces, not fewer.

It was a great commercial, but I honestly didn't know about these Christmas time truces during WWI. I had to look it up on the internet to confirm that this wasn't some strange piece of fiction.

It would probably have been good for the layman if they had a quick bit of text in the commercial stating that it was a real event.
