Cincy doesn't have a defense like Temple. You guys should have a little more room to work with.

There's that, the weather while not good won't be nearly as bad as the Temple game, and usually ECU performs best when people start doubting them. A lot of people are doubting ECU right now, especially locally. They've been hearing about how bad they've played, how much that Temple loss cost them, and that maybe they aren't really all that good in the first place. A lot of people are saying the UNC game was the fluke and not the Temple game. This is the chance to show which team is the real ECU.

Temple got a lot of breaks that game. Hamilton happens( memphis fans know what this means)

If the ECU that played the first 4 weeks of the season shows up, I think we win the game.
If the ECU that has played from USF to Temple, then we get shellacked.
What do you think happened? Your tougher opponents were supposedly in the first 4 weeks.

I think our level of intensity has dropped significantly. One of our WR's even said in an interview that the guys had been going through the motions the past couple weeks... but after the loss to Temple, the "chip" was back, and apparently the past few practices have been extremely intense and physical.
I also think that they were putting too much pressure on themselves with the whole Access Bowl possibility. They were worried about the final score and style points, rather than just taking the game one play at a time.
I think that "lower level" AAC teams are better than people give them credit for. This is a league with a lot of parity.
We haven't been bitten TOO badly by the injury bug this year, thankfully.
I think now that the guys have Cincy in front of them, a "name" team, they are going to resemble the ECU of the first 4 weeks. That still may not be enough to win, but we'll see.

I think it's a combination of the P5 teams clearly weren't as tough as expected, the team clearly thinking they were better than they actually are, and the AAC teams being better than they are given credit for.

I am enjoying how ECU people have such a high opinion of their team, so much that if UC wins, it will because ECU didn't play to their potential. Bring it on, UC played better teams this year, OSU, Miami and yes, Memphis. Just so you can cut and paste after UC wins tomorrow, here are excuses.....AAU refs stink, cold weather, would have won if didn't fumble ten times, team just wasn't up for the game, the real ECU didn't show up, bad play calling, UC got lucky breaks -- would win in sunny weather, ECU had better stats, Marshall somehow caused the lose.....
Should be a great game tomorrow night...high scoring for sure.

Sweet you've played better teams (arguably) how did you fair in those games? Oh that's right you got your arse kicked in all of them. Pretty stupid point if you ask me, but hey maybe we'll only beat you by 17 or so instead of 20-30 like those "better" teams did.

UC is 32-25 vs the current P5 over the last five or six years....ECU is good but this ain't our first rodeo.
If ECU wins, fine. If UC wins, fine. Either way, the better team wins this one.
Reading UC fan posts, it's obvious that y'all are extremely insecure about your team, but at the same time have a serious superiority complex. Does not compute.

Insecure is the wrong word. UC fans are being realistic, considering how bad the D was to begin the season. I am not even sure UC fans have a "superiority complex." I have seen UC fans stick up for the program, when some have pretty much indicated UC is a substandard program. An opinion based on a few games within one season. I guess if one stands up for themselves they have a "superiority complex."

Agreed. There is no reason ECU shouldn't be focused for this one. Coming off a loss, playing a big name team with a winning record, on national tv. I agree the better team will win and I have no idea who that is right now. A few weeks ago I would have said ECU, right now I'm leaning towards UC slightly. The Pirates are a solid team, they just aren't what people thought they were early on. Only played one team with a winning record so far (Temple) and lost. They will get a chance to prove they can beat a solid team tomorrow night which is something I don't really think they have done so far. VT and UNC are ok and probably better than a lot of teams with better records but they aren't anything special.
There isn't an elite team in this league this year. ECU looked like maybe they would be that early on, but the wins are less impressive now and the losses aren't that great. I thought maybe Houston was gonna be that team for a week (forgiving their week 1 loss) but then they lose to Tulane. After ECU lost to Temple I figured UCF would repeat (they still may) and then an hour later they had lost to UConn. Memphis may have the best case right now but that loss to Houston is questionable. Then you have Cincinnati who is looking good lately and could make a strong case for themselves tomorrow night but then you look at the score from the Memphis game and think it couldn't be them. As much criticism as the ACC gets for being FSU and the rest, at least they have that elite team. I think the AAC would benefit from have a dominant team. Not necessarily the same one every year but it is looking like the old C-USA where teams would beat each other up just enough that at the end of the year there would be one or two teams receiving votes but no one ranked many years.

Great post. Seriously, I am loving having ECU in the league with fun trash talking. I will be there tomorrow night with tons of layers. ECU fans coming to game, you cannot dress too warm. Also, go to the banks area of bars and places to eat. It is near the Reds ballpark. You can't miss it.
