As far as the perspective of UAB's attendance, Lesion Field plays a huge part. It's just too dang big for 75% of all college football programs. It just adds so much negative perspective to the whole program, which I believe is part of the plan.

I've seen so many different games for other schools this year on TV where literally NO ONE is there except maybe a few thousand fans, but you don't have threads popping up everywhere about how pathetic it is. Troy and USA are averaging less than 20k fans but there are not posts and news articles about their attendance. Random La. Tech fans post about the pathetic UAB attendance for that one game when they're struggling to maintain 20k for the year even when they have a good chance of winning a CUSA football title and have 3 winning seasons in the past 4 years. You have schools like SMU who spend more than TWICE what we spend on football expenses, have a ton of history, and can't manage to break 20k attendance for the year. 20 FBS schools subsidize a larger percentage of their budget than UAB. Nearly every FCS and lower division football school subsidizes larger percentage of their budgets than UAB and a majority of non power 5 schools subsidize within 10%-20% of what UAB does. 30+ schools subsidize more money than UAB. Dropping FBS D1 football is just completely idiotic and pretty much the death of the athletic program if your goal is to NOT subsidize larger percentages of your budget for athletics.

There's 30 FBS schools who won't break 20k average football attendance this year. Another 20+ schools sitting between 20-29.99k. 80% of non Power 5 schools won't break 30k on the year.

Only 13 non power 5 schools broke 30k attendance last year and that includes all of the military academies and BYU.

I'm so sick of hearing this garbage about attendance when everyone else is living in glass houses.

shack I completely agree!

That may be the best post in this whole mess. Numbers are stubborn things....

I've been complaining about this as well and when you tell someone in the media it "Oh we don't cover them"
