That's a huge sigh of relief there.

Off the skid. And kudos to the D. Held a CUSA team under 40 for the first time.

It looked like the holder did a great job catching and spotting a low snap....

Pulisic was huge that play. My stomach dropped when I saw the snap. I know Cervi missed a FG earlier in the game. Is that why he didn't take the game winner?

What a fantastic game! TH had highlight real passes and that TD I'm the third quarter needs to be seen on Sportscenter.

Defense was much improved over last week. The third quarter they stopped tackling but the 1st, 2nd and 4th quarters were very well played with disciplined play.

What a good game to be at. I don't think I've ever seen that many offsetting penalties in a single game.

Yeah, I saw the low snap and the ball hit the ground and I was like omg here we go.

RE: FIU game thread
What a great game. Kudos to the defense who really came up big on many occasions tonight, and particularly in the fourth quarter. TH made what may have been a game saving tackle after the Lawry fumble, then manufactured a drive which was punctuated with a highlight reel TD. Great scramble and throw by Taylor and great catch by Pascal. Lawry continues to be a beast out there with 142 yards and 2 TD's on 18 carries. The game winning FG by walk-on kicker Satchel Ziffer, who is now the second famous Monarch to be named Satchel.

It was great to see the joy displayed by our Monarchs after breaking the long losing streak. Just a highly entertaining and fun evening at Foreman Field.

GO MONARCHS!!!

Defense wasn't great, but great enough.

Offense, I'm shocked were able to put up 500 yards and 38 points on a very good c-USA defense.

Offense was good enough, the defense still sucked! 8 missed tackles on one running play! The best tackle of the entire game was TH's tackle after our fumble. I'll take the win but we have a lot of work to do before next year.

Offense had their best game of the year. Could have won a couple of other games if TH took off running like he did today. That opened up the short passing game.

This is so much like our homecoming from last year. Looks like a loss and pull it out at the end. One of the best games we've had at home.

Agree. Him getting a few 1st downs on his runs saved the day.

Why do college field goal kickers start to run away from everyone when they make a game winning field goal? They look stupid when they do that.

NFL FG kickers either want to be carried off by their teammates or reach for a simple handshake.

The problem here is sportsmanship. When the kicker runs away from his teammates, they have to catch up with him and that prolongs the celebration when the opposing team is trying to congratulate them. If you didn't notice, some of the FIU players started heading for the locker room instead of congratulating the Monarchs because the field goal kicker wanted to make it all about him.

The same thing happened in the Rice game. Some of the Rice players tried to congratulated ODU but instead turned for the locker room because ODU had to chase down Segers in order to celebrate the win. The field goal kickers need to know that it's not just about them.

I'm all about sportsmanship.

If you're going to run, run toward the opponents sideline. That way both teams will meet and be able to congratulate each other.

Sirloin they are damn kids and especially when they are freshmen they still have that High school thingy in them and they do what they think is cool. They'll eventually learn and grow

Haha. We just won or first CUSA home game. There were a number of exciting plays. A couple storyteller plays. Or defense played our best game of the year, and all you can find to add to the discussion is a critique of which direction the kicker ran in celebration. The kicker who just kicked his first career field goal, a game winner, celebrated.

Pretty absurd no?

I wouldn't say that was the best game our defense has played.

If it is, that says it all really.

Whenever you have less total stops than TD's allowed in a game, sorry, your defense didn't do a good job.

Heinecke, Lawry and Vaughn were men amongst boys today.

Very impressive game for them. Great win. Plenty to be happy about.

I enjoyed the game that teetered between a loss and a win. No doubt about it.

However, like I said, it was the lack of sportsmanship at the end that's troubling. At least both coaches and a few players got in a handshake.
