Faculty Senate
I have emailed the faculty senate and asked them to emergently add the issue and Watts' performance to their agenda for discussion on 11-11. Can't call at the moment but plan to later. Contact info:

Are they going to shut UAB down completely? That doesn't make any sense.

Is that on the agenda? If so, we need to have some supporters there asking questions of Watts. All students, faculty, and staff are welcome to attend.

Undergrad programs WILL be cut next. If there's no football team, the music department will take a MAJOR hit to the point of almost being non-existent.

Yep. It's harder to recruit the best musicians out of high school with no marching band. My graduate school, Kennesaw State, only has a non-marching ensemble system right now, but with the first football games coming to KSU next fall, they realized how much is there for the taking with potential growth. They have already started investing the money to have a full marching band when the season kicks off, because clearly someone understands the concept of "investment". Can't make money without putting money in unless it's taken from someone else by force.

To me, this is yet another indicator that Georgia utilizing a board of regents to oversee the separate schools is far, far better than separate boards of trustees (the forced merger of KSU and Southern Poly notwithstanding).

It was in the link I clicked on. It may disappear soon.

EDIT: "The agenda includes an address from Dr. Shannon Blanton, new Dean of the Honors College, and an update from President Watts along with a Q&A."

We need to have a presence there.

After that the UAB jobs will start to go as well. This isn't just football, there's a lot more at stake. Watt's is more the hatchetman brought in to gut the newly acquired company of all the good stuff & all the junk will be tossed into a shell company for bankruptcy.
