Comments about basketball exhibition games
Ga. Southern play an exhibition vs. North Greenville (I know-- who is this) tomorrow night.

Any other teams played exhibitions yet?

We beat Henderson State by 20 yesterday. Really frustrating at times to watch.

Cajuns beat Loyola of New Orleans by 27.

Shawn Long, JJ Davenport, and Devonta Walker (basically our starting front line)did not play at all.

Cajuns look bigger and more athletic than last year, and Kasey Shepherd and Jay Wright will be top of the league point guards, but man I still miss watching Elfrid as a Cajun!

RE: Comments about basketball exhibition games
Pretty excited about the team we have this year, I honestly think we will be much better overall and we are a lot bigger and deeper than last year. I know we lost the 10th overall nba lottery pick but sometimes I think the team last year just kinda say back and watched elfrid payton...not that I blame them but I think they depended on payton and long to do everything. Very excited, the Cajuns and Georgia state are building something special in the ways of a rivalry.

Your anti-Brady bias is tired. The glass is also half full.

Hardwick and Livingston looked promising. Cam looked good. By the end of next year, with the whole team back, it will be obvious where our program is. My bet is Brady's best two years at stAte are this year and next.

That said, basketball in this conference looks bleak. It is what it is. And it isn't just A-State that has attendance and scheduling issues these days.

How are y'all looking this year? Some if my favorite games have been against USA... Sunbelt basketball just isn't right without y'all fighting near the top of the league.

It's probably a rebuilding year for USA and we don't have a lot of depth. It's year two of our new system under Coach Graves so maybe these players have bought into the system (they weren't last year) and we see some improvement.

Little Rock has not had exhibition games in a few years. We do start off with D2 Monticello, but it counts on our schedule.

I have no idea what to expect this year from Ga. Southern. We do have 7 new players. 1 player the rest of the conference will come to know is J. Hewitt. He is a very good player and it spoke alot for him to be voted to 1st team preseason Sun Belt with us just coming into the league. Our guards are pretty good. Where we struggled at times last year was with inside play.

I have no such bias. I still go to games as much as I can. I wanted Boyer's head for the last couple years, but gave him a one year reprieve last year thanks to the Regular Season Title. I expect NCAA tourney out of them this year.

the Men's team is sort of in a similar boat. Brady's proven we can win 19 games, but that's pretty mediocre considering how awful the league is. I expect improvement from that number this year. If we cant do better than 19 wins, it will only prove to me that he needs to be bought out. If we win 20 plus, I'll happily change my tune.

Anyone who watched that game would be able to quickly point out that it was downright ugly at times. We scored 40 points in the first 12 minutes, and then 20 points in the next 20 minutes. Against a good team, we lose that game. Thankfully Henderson was god awful.

As for improving the conference in basketball...it needs to happen. I like the direction football is headed outside of Troy and Atlanta. I like the schools we are playing with as a program...its time that we all begin to improve our Olympic Sports.

RE: Comments about basketball exhibition games
I too hope the conference improves in basketball. We all have problems getting quality home games. For that reason I hope we keep playing a double round robin if we stay at 11 teams. That leaves less non-conference games to schedule. I would support some type of limitation on non-D1 games however. We have 3 this year and if you look at other Sun Belt team generally they have from 1 to 3 of them. Maybe at the least limit it to 2.

Bobcats down TX Wesleyan 76-57. Cats started the game with an 11-0 run. Emani Gant led the cats with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Let the real games begin.

RE: Comments about basketball exhibition games
Spent a few minutes looking up the number of non-D1 games each team plays this year:

UALR and App. St. --- 0
Ark. St., Ga. St., UTA --- 1
Troy, USA, Louisiana -- 2
Texas St. and Ga. Southern -- 3
ULM -- 4

I think I identified all the non-D1 schools on each team's schedule.
