Support from David Carrington - President Jefferson Co Commission
All,

I want to echo Councilor Roberson's support for UAB football. I am
personally convinced that a new stadium in close proximity to the
university, Railroad Park and Regions Field would bring accelerated economic
development to this area of our community. Such a facility could be used by
Birmingham high schools and as an outdoor entertainment venue.

I stand ready, willing and able to assist whenever and however I can.

David Carrington
President, Jefferson County Commission

Nice! ! ! I can not imagine how President Watts and the Board of Trustees can shut the football program down. I know Mackin can't say anything- but I sure wish he would.

He could say several paragraphs of nothing like Watts did.

He could say something - anything as he'd be out of a job either way. They say silence is golden but in this case it reeks & yet says volumes.

Another strong supporter. These guys probably dislike the cronies in T town as much as us. The bot members are exactly the type that have knocked everything positive in Jeff Co and Birmingham. Now they are directly trying to screw it up.

As someone under 30, I'm ashamed to ask this, but how do I tweet this? It's longer than 140 characters.

No shame. Break it into smaller chunks and use parentheses to indicate it's a truncated tweet [such as "... (1/2)," "...(2/2)"]. Or screenshot the quote and tweet it as an image. Or post it publicly on Facebook, grab the permalink, and tweet that URL with a snippet of the quote. His handle is @WDCarrington if you want to tag him and/or say thanks.

He wasn't going to get re-elected by the other commissioners because he did too much on his own, without input from the others. Anyone outside of Tony Petelos linked to JeffCo doesn't have much political weight behind them.
