The same god dam people complain about every game. We WON. I don't know what game you people were watching, but the weather was really bad. Football is a game where you throw the ball down field, not sideline to sideline or use the bubble screen. We are a running team, plan and simple. Wake up and smell the roses. Hopefully Woodsides and Martz will be ready for NIU.

I'll feel much better about this team if we can win two out of the next three, and better yet, all three.

It is always dangerous to count chickens before they hatch but in my mind I have already put a "W" beside the Eastern game so IF the Rockets can break the drought and actually beat NIU (who is down a bit) then it will come down to a 2 game series with BG where the first game is absolutely meaningless except for bragging rights and nothing more and then the second game at Ford Field that is for ALL THE MARBLES.

I thought that is was obvious too it but unfortunately it doesn't always come across clearly on internet posts which is too bad because it loses all its impact when you have to go back and explain it.

RE: 5-0!
Agree with much of the pessimism here. The offensive play calling was poor. Based on the lineup pre-snap I could tell what play was coming. Based on the result of the play, the defense knew it was coming, too. If you are going to run the same pre-set positioning, run a DIFFERENT play from it to confuse the defense. Sheesh!!!

On the defensive side of the ball, it was obvious the D-coordinator was not prepared for Strock's speed. He doesn't have 4.3 speed or anything, but he looked like a legit 4.6 guy, for sure. They were unprepared to face him, which is fair since he is a Freshman backup QB who has what, 4 snaps on game film. Toledo just made two huge mistakes on defense and gave up 115 rushing yards on two plays. That changed the game.

I'll bet on the Mount guys to succeed.

How about the next two games.... TOLEDO TOUGH, not TOLEDO MEDIOCRE

I agree Pat... This team just needs to get NASTY on both sides of the ball...

Start out Grumpy all week, then......
come out.......
VERY NASTY!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess when people thought you were serious and agreed with you, that kind of proved your point.

Concerned about team health, though. Hopefully it doesn't all end here....again.

I was stuck by the name when Strock when came in but I was a bit surprised when the said who his dad was, because his dad has got to around 65 years old now.

I saw Strock's dad and uncle play at Virginia Tech back when I was in grad school there. Don Strock was a QB who actually led the entire nation in passing yards his senior year and his brother Dave Strock was a wide receiver and the kicker. Don Strock spend many years in the NFL as Miami's backup QB--first for Bob Griese and then for Dan Marino. The irony is that his sophomore year Don Stock was the back up for another sophomore starter because Coach Jerry Claiborne didn't like the NFL passing game style of play and Stock would probably have never seen the field except that Claiborne was fired at the end of Strock's sophomore year and he won the starting job under the new coach (Charlie Coffee) and went on to rewrite the school's passing records over the next two years.

After Virginia Tech Claiborne went on to become head coach at Kentucky and then Maryland. He had played for Bear Byrant at Kentucky and was an assistant coach under Bryant at Kentucky, Texas A&M and at Alabama and is often remembered for his comment some years after USC and Sam "Bam" Cunningham tore up Alabama. Claiborne said "Sam Cunningham did more to integrate Alabama in 4 quarters of football than Martin Luther King did in more than 20 years".

Incidentally Sam Cunningham's (much) younger brother Randall was the QB in that bowl game years ago that UT lost on the field but later "won" in the record books when UNLV had to forfeit for a rules violation.

I looked online and several articles said that Nathan Strock is the nephew to Don Strock.

That reads like sarcasm but gosh darn it does it EXACTLY echo my sentiments!
Why don't the numbers support how I feel about this offense?

But watching Hunt play is worth the price of admission.
So...why does he routinely sit out entire quarters?

Interesting----I figured that between Dave and Don Strock, one was his dad and the other was his uncle; of course there may have been other brothers who didn't play college football so Dave and Don Strock could both could be his uncles, I suppose.
