I was jumping ahead to november 15th. My bad

November 15 will be a tough one for Rice. But first we stay focused on win 6 against UTSA. Will be good for C-USA if Rice comes to Marshall on a 6-game win streak.

2. Marshall - Is the pressure getting to them?
3. La Tech - They along with Rice has definitely got things on track.
4. UTEP - Quietly going about their business.
5. MTSU - Very consistent.
6. UAB - The surprise team of CUSA this season.
7. FAU/FIU - Just can't quite get over the hump.

I think it was a lack of pressure getting to them, which can be just as dangerous. People tend to forget that we held FAU scoreless in the second half and still won by 19 points. I also think with the exception of USM, the rest of our schedule is tough enough to keep them focused. USM is dangerous because we walked through the last two years against them with these same players. They aren't close to the best team we have left to play but they are good enough to bite us in the ass if we sleep on them. The best effort of Rice, UAB, WKU, and possibly LaTech(if in CCG) is good enough to beat us even if we are focused.

Until one of our remaining opponents truly takes us to the wire or beats us we still have to be #1.

RE: Week 10 - Rank the CUSA
There are only two teams that are undefeated in CUSA play this year:

1) LA Tech (5-0 in CUSA) - Very impressive defense. Offense ain't bad either. Wins over 5 CUSA opponents by average score of 43-15 (net = 28 points per game)
2) Marshall (4-0 in CUSA) - Everybody's pick since beginning of the season. Wins over 4 CUSA opponents by an average score of 46-17 (net = 29 points per game)

3) Rice - Has one conference loss to ODU. Still must face Marshall and LA Tech in regular season.
4) MTSU -
5) UAB -
6) UTEP -
7) FAU -

RE: Week 10 - Rank the CUSA
1. Marshall - as long as they stay undefeated, they will host CCG and that gives them advantage.
2. LA Tech - always the potential for a what the hell was that, but like the way the defense is playing
3. Rice - Tech can lose any game at any time (see NSU), but this is the only one of the three left that concerns me.
4. MTSU
5. UAB
6./7. FAU/UTEP - I think the difference here would be where the game was played.

So FIU beats FAU and UAB by a decent margin, but yet FAU loses to FIU and UAB and FAU is ahead of FIU? Much confusion.

I think what's interesting is that Tech is 5-0, but the loss to NSU is still sticking in everyone's mind. If we had won that game, even by 3 points, I think everyone would be looking at us differently.

And I get that. We learned our lesson to not overlook an in state school. The NSU debacle will go down in Louisiana Tech lore. We have eaten our humble pie on many message boards. We were picked to be 4th in the West, and yet here we are in the mix of things. Beat the hell out of us for losing to a FCS school - trust me, as fans we have all done it, and I'm sure the team has everyday since that game. BUT we are 5-0 and control our destiny. We are hungry for that West title and a chance to play Marshall for the Championship in only our 2nd year of CUSA which most of you thought we didn't belong.

And here's to great and injury free games from here on out.

Add up what most people think and consensus has LA Tech 2nd best in the conference. Where is all this disrespect the Tech fans are seeing?

My current working theory on the FIU over UAB thing is that when the game took place we had the hood up on the offense with a whole mess of tools lying about.

It was that a lot of people picked WKU to beat Tech on this board. Tech D does deserves some respect but Tech could also WTF a game or 2 down the stretch. When Tech plays well on both sides of the ball they are as good or better than Marshall. I think UAB will be a interesting game, either 27-20 (either team wins) or 45-13 (Tech shows up on O). Most Tech fans haven't seen good D in years and this years D under Diaz is special. It comes down to O and play calling.

RICE and TECH both played some money games this year or we would both have better records. The west has been disrespected more than a specific team.

1. Drowning my sorrows in whiskey the night of the Marshall game
2. Crying myself to sleep after the UAB game
3. Four hours of silent depression after the Wyoming game
4. Alcohol fueled rage when Nebraska scores TD after TD

Should be an interesting final month. Rice is playing very well, they have our number. Glad we have them in Huntington, that should help a bit. I still think USM and UAB will be tough - both on the road. WKU can sling it but seems to be faltering.
