I know the narrative for this game will be that Georgia State is terrible, but I'm glad we played App State when we did. The made a huge turnaround over the course of last season and they might just do it again.

Don't be surprised if they win 5 conference games.

yup. we are rolling right now, i know it's georgia state but still it's clear to see something changed in this team after liberty. firing on all cylinders right now. i fully expect us to beat ULM at the rock saturday then give ark st and lala all they can handle on the road.

Man it feels good being able to say that

Whoa there big fella.... "I fully expect us to beat ULM at the Rock Saturday". We've beaten the worst two teams in the league, albeit convincingly, but in no way should that give anyone the confidence to say they "expect" App to beat a good ULM team. No question the team is coming around, but we're still starting a LOT of freshmen and sophomores and have a loooooong way to go before we can "expect" to beat anyone. Not trying to dampen your enthusiasm, just injecting some reality.
ULM is 3-5 (2-2) just like us. Their two wins weren't much more impressive than ours (barely snuck by Troy and Idaho). Look I agree Arkansas State and LaLa are gonna be tough, but this is a game we should win easily if we remain in the form we've been in. I expect an electric atmosphere at the rock for Black Saturday if the weather holds up to current predictions. They have a good defense, but as long as our offensive line makes room for Cox, Upshaw (if he plays) and Ferguson to run consistently we'll win easily. We're gonna run first and Taylor will make good, smart plays when needed. And our defense has been lights out, ULM's offense is nothing to be scared of. I say Apps roll 35-17

Yep. I think App fans can be cautiously optimistic, but I hope the fan base doesn't crash if reality smacks us a bit. We seem to be executing better on both sides of the ball, but it will be interesting to see how we deal with a much stronger opponent. We probably match up better against ULM than we do against Louisiana or ASU, but I do think we are playing well enough now (and with enough confidence) that the Apps will finish out the season competing and representing ourselves well.

Every time that I see "execution" in a post, I can't help but harken back to the time that a coach was asked about his teams execution (after a poorly played game) and his response was "I'm all for it ! " 04-cheers

ULM defense is for real, maybe the best in the SBC, this game is going to be tight, it probably will come down to efficiency in the redzone, and field goal kicking, neither of which we have been very good this year. I think if we are fortunate enough to win we would have earn it, this is going to be a hard hitting, no mercy kind of game.

I'm sure home field and the weather had something to do with that.

I'm not sure we would of won even with that at start of the year, not claiming anything crazy but it seems this team is not the same team we fielded the first half of the season, yea we are beating bottom dwellers but we are beating them hard and I didn't even think we would beat them after the loss to liberty

Don't get me wrong, CYosef, I am very happy for your tentative turnaround. I hope it sticks. You are now looking like the App State I've grown to respect and (lovingly) hate. When we restarted football in 1981 and throughout our championship run in the '80s and early '90s, I thought we'd stay independent. I was apprehensive about the entry into the SoCon but learned to love it in the next two years. I don't remember having that much of a connect with Marshall as we had with App State and Furman. As time went on, it was clear the road to the SoCon championship went through Boone and Statesboro. We became like neighbors that fought constantly but attacked whomever tried to get in between us. Can't really imagine being in a league without a strong App State to share with. It would be unnatural.

This version of the Mountaineers has a legit shot at going 6-6. If we play like we have the past two weeks against ULM and Idaho (both home games) and steal one between UL and Ark State we are 6-6.

I think 5-7 looks more likely but with our team finally pulling it together things are looking significantly brighter. I fully believe the ULM game will be a harbinger of how this all shakes out.

I think the ULM game will go down to the wire, either team could win, I don't have much faith we can win at UL and Ark State, what I have seen on tv, they are pretty good, I think we will be competitive, but I don't think we will win either games, and I think we beat Idaho, hopefully, we find a way to beat ULM and finish 5-7

I grew up going to games. Had season tickets for years now. Went all around.... went to Michigan in 2007, ECU, Virginia Tech, NC State, etc... all those games. Also went to all three national championships so I've been around longer than you probably think.

Did you buy those tickets yours or did your parents? Being around for a while still doesn't change the fact you are a young guy. I'm glad you are excited and enthused for App Football, but take it from a guy who was attending games long before you were born, experience and perception comes with age.

Like what? If you don't realize wisdom and discernment comes with age and experience you've got a lot to learn.

Yes, this weather did make a difference as GaState played like they didn't want to be there while most of the App players seemed to relish the moment. I noticed Arbuckle was sleeveless in the 1st half, but had long sleeves on after halftime- it didn't help. I loved the call to run the fake FG after GaState called three consecutive timeouts to ice the kicker. I can understand one, but three? Payback, as they say is hell. Lastly, it could have been even worse but we ended the game inside their 10 yard line by taking knees to kill the clock. Thus ends Snow Bowl 2014.

My son and I were right there with ya til the end. It was one of the tougher games I've endured over the years, but I've kind of made it a rule to not leave until the clock hits 0:00. Wish we had more fans like you guys.
