You can have a better game thread next week that will be filled with questions on Fran's play calling, WTH's, WTF's and SMDH's. Mostly from TXST fans. It'll be a blast. Just be patient.

At least it will be about football.
Yeah, not giving up student seats for a band. Deal with it.
I'm seriously going to forward this thread on. It's so bad, it's funny.

No it's what happens when their band is as an important part of their tradition as boring uniforms and yellow buses are to yours.
Hopefully when they start playing football, they can start having traditions that actually involve the team. But I digress
They were a power for a while. Guess it's like when your traditions went out the window during the VG years. Don't think your fans were happy about that. And the band is a bigger part of college football then the bus. Every team has traditions and they don't have to directly involve the football team.
Troy was THE power in the Sun Belt for a while. As far as Blakeney has fallen, everyone who was in the Sun Belt knows what he, and Troy, accomplished.
Troy has a great band, old SBC members who don't care about bands a bit at least know that Troy takes great pride in it. I also know I don't give a crap about rodeo...but that Troy does. Just like we at A-State care about rugby.

I agree. Made us earn it, no big plays. Probably the best alley and pitch containment all season long by an opponent, perhaps w/ the exception of NCSU where I think Ellison read keep most of the time.
We might have been a little sluggish with the short week, but I think Troy had a hand in disrupting our offense more than we had intended.

At the end of the day I'll take 42-10 I just hope Dean ends up being ok.
EDIT: Looking at the game replay right now. It seems they brought some different lights or camera's because the picture looks 1,000 times better than the App State game.
EDIT #2: Word on the street is Dean seems to be ok. Definitely a concussion but since he got knocked out everything else was precautionary.
I got the same feel for the game. It felt like GS was struggling offensively. Maybe in contrast to GSU where the players may have been more "up" for them than for Troy. However, Troy did a great job in eliminating the big play by Breida and Ellison. No long runs.
RE: Troy @ Ga Southern - Super "Official" Game Thread
Even with an off night with our offense, we still managed to score 42pts. Let that sink in. We did leave 2 TD on the field, so that has to be cleaned up.
Notable Stats:
Troy loaded the box with 8 men all night and we still got 6.7 YPC.
Southern's TOP was 38:43 vs 21:17 for Troy
Southern had 28 first downs (wow) vs Troy's 9.
Troy only passed for 13 yards..... 13!
Of the 154 yards of offense from Troy, 74 of it came from the last drive of the game when Southern had 3rd & 4th string defense on the field. Prior to that, we held Troy to 80 yards of offense.
To be honest, I felt like Troy lost this game from the first playwhen they fumbled the kick off return. They never had an ounce of momentum all game long.

I have yet to see us use our busses to dictate seating in someone else's stadium.

Honestly when the game was 21-3 in the middle of the 2nd quarter I felt certain the game was over.

The surprising thing is how many passes they threw.
Troy threw the ball 30 times against NMSU, 40 times against App, 24 times against South Alabama, but threw it 11 times against us. That's a WTF stat right there. I was sure after the first drive we would get a barrage of passes, but we didn't.
It's like Troy was just ready to get the game over with and get out of town.

I was thinking the same thing. Our defensive line put a good bit of pressure on the QBs and they only took 1 shot down the field I believe.
Also, troy never really took shots to the TE or slot receiver down the middle of the field, an area of weakness for us.

RE: Troy @ Ga Southern - Super "Official" Game Thread
it was a weird game. I was watching the game and it felt like our guys weren't playing that well, and that we weren't getting much done. It felt like a down game. But I guess I'll take 42 points and 400+ yards rushing in a down game, even if it was against troy.

We haven't needed the long pass, but its been there almost every down. There was no safety help deep at all, but im sure its hard to call one when you are getting 7 yards per rush. If we were backing people up at all, the numbers would be silly.
They did hold contain lanes very well, but just too far back to make a play.
RE: Troy @ Ga Southern - Super "Official" Game Thread
First off, it saddens me that this thread devolved into a discussion about visiting band placement.
However, I will say that those of you complaining about band placement should hope to never play Alabama. They placed the GS band in the extreme upper deck when we played there. No big deal.
Maybe that's the real reason Troy hasn't played them, too concerned about where their band gets to sit.
RE: Troy @ Ga Southern - Super "Official" Game Thread
My apologies for how we played......it hurt your attendance and hurt the label of SBC.....good thing FSU and Louisville were on so maybe 4 to 500 people watched.......
Me being one of them.....the announcer for ESPN the big guy do not know his name but he needs to be our coach......he discussed ID for the offense and very accurately described our defensive woes.....all in the first few minutes of the game......
I hope that with a new coach a new culture and at least a better rep of how Troy comes to pass.....till then .......we are as fans and players and band players and administration are all going to just hurt because for a man that the field named after this is sad......

The whole time that I was reading this thread the only thing I could think about was watching our band walk around that spiral walkway to the upper deck at Bryant Denny. It took them like 20 minutes to get all the way up there lol
