My childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When I was insolent I was placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds- pretty standard really. At the age of twelve I received my first scribe. At the age of fourteen a Zoroastrian named Vilma ritualistically shaved my testicles. I'm surprised no one caught on that your description was from Austin powers. Pretty classic, though.

Most of us TXST fans have learned to give Rev a wide birth and make allowances.
Well, I enjoy his mirth.

RE: Welcome to my mixer
My life was pretty typical. I grew up in these hills, knowing what season it was just by looking at the trees. My folks got by planting Frazier Fir trees. It was a fun.childhood. We never had top much but always had enough.

We use to go down to the watering hole on weekend, looking for trouble. Beat up someone who's hit on our women and give the bouncer a twenty for his troubles. Don't do that anymore, but it was fun while it lasted.

Lately I've been getting into the environment. Started a non-profit to protect the eco-system and that all jazz. Heel, even bought a Prius that runs on electrical. Went to jail for chaining myself to a fracking machine once.

When I'm not working, I pass time by smoking weed, going to jam sessions, preaching about the environment and campaigning for equal marriage rights. I walk around barefoot when I can cause it feels good on my feet. I believe America should outlaw all guns and I hate Republicans.

Nice to meet you, T-Dog. I think maintaining the environment and preventing the misuse of it is a noble endeavor. You wouldn't happen to be John Denver, would you?

RE: Welcome to my mixer
I've worked with 4th-8th graders for the last 7 years. Last Four years have been as an English Teacher, though I am taking a break this year to work on getting a Masters Degree. Right now I am tutoring 5 days a week, and working as a Minister to Middle School Youth three days a week. (Yes, I know that's 8 days)

As such, I can probably sing songs from all the latest Disney movies for you, can name you all of the major teen artists, and probably know more about the game of tag than any of you ever will. In my spare time, I watch Arkansas State Sports, used to hold season tickets to Football, baseball, and men's and women's basketball. Dropping the men's tickets this year as protest of our continued mediocrity. The remaining spare time is spent moderating discussions of random sports fans on the internet. Its a thankless job with no pay. Thankfully, I am not married yet. I deal with children enough.

For reasons I have yet to understand, half of you guys cannot name my favorite NFL Franchise, despite the fact that it should be very, very obvious.

Yay, one got it right. I told one of my students that I had eyes in the back of my head and I heard a whisper to a neighbor "See, I told you he was an alien."

I'm a Mets fan in baseball. Never cared for the Royals. Grew up going to Cardinals Games, so I rebelled and became a Mets fan.

Out of all my favorite pro teams, the Mets own the last title. I was 1 year old at the time, so thus I have never witnessed my favorite pro team win a championship. I root for the perpetual underdog.

Let's see...26 year old COBOL programmer living in Columbus Georgia. From actual South Georgia (not Statesboro). Graduated from Georgia Southern. Go Eagles! About to get married to another GaSouthern grad, though she has no sports allegiance whatsoever....still working on that lol.

You shouldn't be so hard on the team there bud. Yeah, you guys played kinda dirty, but other than that I wouldn't call that brand of football mediocre.

RE: Welcome to my mixer
I graduated from GS with my bachelor's and master's degrees. My father and my younger son also both graduated from GS. The son played football under Jeff Monken while he was at GS. Never played a lot, but GS football played such an important role in his life that I'll always be grateful.

I've been married to the same girl for 37 years. I'm 57 years old, and retired from public education after 30 years as a high school band director. As soon as I retired from public schools, I went to work as band director at a small Christian school near the high school where I taught previously. The time that I'm not teaching kids to play music, I spend making music, playing in a church orchestra and a community symphony.

Other than following the Eagles and teaching/making music, I love to ride bicycles, and I've started running lately. That's me in a nutshell.

RE: Welcome to my mixer
I'm an executive at a global commercial vehicle manufacturer. I do a lot of traveling throughout North America... Like 3-5 days per week. Appalachian football and the Sun Belt message board are both a nice change of pace for me and allow me to pass the time on a plane or on layover at an airport.

I have been a season ticket holder for 19 years, and have been active with AppState alumni groups and committees off and on for years as time permits. I was very active and vocal both officially and unofficially in the support of FBS football at AppState. It's been a decades long dream come true for me. My other pastimes include playing piano, strategy board games, continually upgrading my theater room, and I restore vintage arcade games and pinball machines.

I'm married to my college sweetheart who is also a Mountaineer. We have two middle school aged children and my wife is a gifted and talented English teacher.

Going to football games is a family affair. My wife, kids and parents are in tow as we head up the mountain on football Saturdays.
