That seems to be the logical thing to do

In the 50yr master plan there is a parking lot where the current East grass lot is now and softball field along with a transportation center for the campus shuttle. This parking lot is also supposed to be used for campus parking on non game days which will help the funding issue as it would not have to be totally funded as an athletic project but a university project.

One of the best details of our stadium is that we have maintained grass adjacent to the facility. I would be super pissed if they paved the east lot.

I'll gladly sacrifice grass for an upgraded football stadium/facility

It is one of the few things in the master plan that has not changed since it was shown in January so I guess you should be prepared to be super pissed. This is needed so we can remove the parking lot by the Field House.

That is awesome and what needs to be done. Forget the naysayers who say what we cannot be and go with the dedicated ones who believe no mountain is too high to climb. Status quo = failure

If they develop the east side stands, a shell building would be built to enhance the stadium plus create a platform to have skyboxes and maybe an upper deck. I am sure what ever they are planning will be done right. NIU has improved their goals over the last couple of decades. The last big mistake was the Convo. Who ever designed the track and did not engineer it to be capable of track meets screwed up big time.

In order to renovate the west stands you have to get the Wrestling and other (gymnastics?) rooms out of there. Maybe they go in the new structure in the east parking lot.

Master plan has that building on the West side of the Convo.

Reminder about what was reported from this summer...

"A lot would be done to expand the east side and the west side would stay, with improvements done underneath. There was also talk for the south endzone having work done. Other things that would move the baseball field and build other support buildings are also in the works."

I just wish they could add more interior (Skybox-type) seating without charging more than $1,000 per seat. Doesn't have to be fancy.

Something like this is what I would LOVE to see.

My wife has asked multiple times if NIU will have something like this for us 20 or so years down the road.

Though Boise charges $2500 per seat but that also includes 1 parking pass for 1-4 tickets then another at 5-8 tickets...I wonder what Toledo charges for their club seats.

They would have to charge you for two seats with your double wide.

I am really hoping this will be on ESPN3.com. That would just be fantastic.

I love the way Boise made their Skyclub too. Their AD thinks like SF, if you are going to do it, do it right. We don't need one as big as Boises, but something close for the future growth.

Not sure how this would be received at NIU. $2,500 per seat is a hell of a lot, no matter what it includes. That would cost me $10,000. Ain't gonna happen for me. No way.

Right now, the Skybox is filled because lots of seats are reserved for dignitaries (such as BOT members). I would love it if they could keep the price at $1,000 per seat, but add more seats.

Can't afford it. I will lose the weight. Care to hold down my legs while I do some situps after my last fattening lunch of hot dogs, chili, and beer?
