RE: Week 10 predictions
Georgia Southern fans should instead hold up signs that say "who needs a bowl when you want the conference championship?" or something like that. Kind of a thumb in the eye (note: I'm not saying you even have the championship wrapped up, but it's far more likely to happen than the bowl).

And I still see posts about "so the number 3 X conference goes to this bowl?"

NO NO NO NO NO! Not how it works (though I think it should).

We know how it works. Our AD made a video on how it works. It would still be funny to see those signs in the stands on national TV.

Calm yourself.

I'm perfectly calm, our fans don't know how it works either...in general, the masses don't understand how it works. We didn't got to a bowl for 40 years and now we should just go to a "better one". Unfortunately the bowl situation for everyone is less in our control than most people realize. I think 5 sunbelt teams from last year can attest to that.

I have to agree with this. Our teams need to take care of business and if they do that good things will happen.

The 5 SBC teams he referred to had all taken care of business on the field [to the extent of being bowl eligible] and no good things happened.

I understand that but last year the SBC only had two guaranteed spots and four other teams from other conferences also got shafted because of not enough bowls. Look if your team wins every game (takes care of business) your going to see good things happen. In the future I think their will be enough bowl games that at least 5 SBC teams will be going bowling.

I agree with what you are saying, but it can get frustrating to depend on others people's failures in order for your success to be recognized. Our conference is perceived as the drunk fat chick at closing time. Only when all other options are failed...we will be settled for.

Saturday:

Texas St at NMSU - Fran thinks hes figured out play calling and calls multiple draws up the middle and bubble screens on third and long. After five straight three and outs hes lets his OC call plays and the Bobcats fight their way back again. Aggies turnover problems continue to hurt them. Bobcats 31-21

The Bobcats may be in for a rude awakening when they visit Las Cruces this Saturday. Too close to call.

Troy at Georgia Southern on ESPNU - Blakeney blames the loss on playing on a weeknight but forgets how both teams have been playing this season as the real reason. Eagle fans hold posters up on ESPNU asking for bowl invite Eagles 56-17

Saturday:

ULM at Texas A&M on SEC Network - ULM forgets that Aggies biggest weekaness is their defense and plays super conservative again after seeing how well it worked for three quarters against Texas St. Against a former Fran coached team it has to work right?. Aggies 45-16

Georgia St at App St - App St think weather is their biggest advantage and don't game plan for the Panthers. Georgia St remembers they play better on the road and get a confidence boost. Arbuckle forgets his hand warmers and throws a pick six at the end. Mountaineers 34-31

Arkansas St at Idaho - Anderson decides that he will only call half a dozen trick plays and punt the ball when in the Vandal end zone. Idaho fans wish they played outside to take advantage of the weather App style. Red Wolves 38-17

South Alabama at Louisiana - Cajuns get cocky like they did last year against USA. USA takes early lead but then Ul's RB takes over and puts an end to it. Ragin Cajuns 42-31

Georgia Southern over Troy. Reasons obvious.

ULM loses to aTm. SEC vs. SBC.

Texas State will win a squeaker over NMSU

Georgia State in an upset over Appalachian State.

Arkansas State will beat Idaho by a substantial margin.

Louisiana will drop a close one at home against South Alabama as Brandon Bridge will bring his A-game.

What'choo smokin', Willis?

If there aren't enough eligible teams you will be given a chance. How hard is that to comprehend? It's not up to espn, it's going to be up to the bowls and they will always do what will make them the most money. Even our fans don't understand how it all works, there are people constantly calling in about how we need to go to a "better" bowl. They start pinning the tail on the donkey about this bowl and that bowl, news flash..you don't just get to pick where you go. There are tie ins and contracts that they follow.
We get it! It's just that a large segment of our fan base is obstinate to the nth degree.

Probably because they waited nearly 40 years to go to their first bowl.

And spent plenty of those 40 years at home while being bowl eligible

No disrespect to NM! But this game should not be too close to call . . . .this should be all Bobcats . . . . that said, look for Fran to muck it up . . . . . 04-jawdrop

That sign won't get you an invite to a bowl. But it might get you an invite to the Deliverance reunion.

I called it right-- App. wins big. I do not believe Ga. State wins another game this year. They have basically given up.

Many of us are just HOPING for Georgia State to get that monkey off their back, so we don't have to face them with that spectre looming over the game.

RE: Week 10 predictions
The last two weeks App's opponents have been deemed to have packed it in and will not win another game. Well they play each other next week so they have that to fight for.

With all the injuries I saw GA St have in the second half today (I think some wanted to be in a warm locker room) I think Troy pulls out one more win for coach B.

I know the weather didn't help, but Georgia St just doesn't have anything going on either side of the ball.
