UConn opens state of the art basketball practice facility
UCONN's long-awaited basketball practice facility is complete and shown off to the public.

It looks like the facility was mostly paid for by donors of the women's team, but the men will be allowed to use for the facility for practice also.

"Werth, 76, is a season-ticket holder for football and both basketball teams. His children (Peter, Debbie and Jackie) all attended UConn, and his wife, Pamela, is an avid fan of the women's program. Werth has a friendship with Auriemma, which helped lead to his initial $4.7 million donation.

His $2.3 million gift helped push the project to the finish line."

Interestingly no men's current or former basketball player from the NBA donated to it. The only men's player to donate was a single walk on. Multiple former UConn women's players (including many playing in the WNBA) donated. I don't know the whole back story, but maybe there's a separate facility/addition geared towards the men that their former players are waiting for.

In any event, it looks amazing.

Edit to add: Put TU's picture in, now corrected. Both look similar!

Oh yeah, UConn just got another $8 million donation for some UConn guy in the hedge fund business for a new soccer stadium.

UConn's practices are more interesting than other teams' games.

That's not hyperbole.

No former Uconn mens team member donating doesn't surprise me. Nobody in college basketball has any loyalty anymore. They only care about getting to the NBA and nothing else. The college they choose is just a stepping stone. Look at Memphis, for example. Ever see Rose or Tyreke Evans doing anything for the program? No. They could care less. But look at former Tigers that played back in the day like Penny, Laurie, etc. Always giving to or repping the program in some way.

He had a different picture up last night. I guess he's trying to troll UCONN fans again.

Nice facility. USF got their new digs a couple years back. Not quite as nice but both look great. Hope UConn continues to rep the American well.
