I'm quoting myself to explain myself a little further. I was also inspired by a recent post by BadgerMJ. So yes, I'm taking some stuff from him. (Because hey, some people can better explain what I believe than I can at times. lol)
Things I believe in:
1. Above all else, God is number one in my life. That said, I won't shove Him down your throat if you don't shove your particular set of beliefs down mine.
2. I'll stay out of your bedroom if you stay out of my wallet. (From BadgerMJ.)
3. All human life is sacred and therefore meaningful (see reason one for why I believe that); that said, real justice is essential to a thriving society so yes, the death penalty is necessary. (But as a last resort, and really only for the truly heinous crimes.)
4. If you screw up your life from exercising your "freedoms", don't expect me or others to pay for it - HENCE: A responsible choice is a choice that creates consequences that you are willing to assume responsibility for. (Quoted verbatim from BadgerMJ.) And I'll say this to add to it: If I screw up my life exercising my freedoms, I won't expect you to pay for it, either. Deal?
5. Give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; teach a man how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime. (Old parable.) Also, this: For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat. (2 Thessalonians 3:10 ESV) In other words, if you want something, like that big boat or whatever, work for it! Don't rely on others to get it for you.
6. Don't pay attention to what others have; worry about what you have. You'll be a lot happier.
7. Be honest to everybody, but especially yourself.
8. Confess your strengths and weaknesses, but only to the right people.
9. Charity should come from the heart, not from the government.
10. Treat others better than you expect to be treated.
11. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear. (Thomas Jefferson) In other words, don't be afraid to ask questions to anyone about anything.
