Someone needs to teach Dieng how to not break his hand.

Last year was unbelievable compared to years past. I can only think of one injury, Tucker's, that cost anyone playing time. And I believe that was extremely brief.

We've been very fortunate lately...knock on wood.

I'm hoping that you ACTUALLY knocked on wood there EA...just typing that is not going to cut it after that remark.

RE: Dieng got dinged . . . broken hand
I saw a post on Drake Lamont's twitter from a few days again about feeling sorry for Dieng. I was worried that it was an injury and my worst fears were realized! Fortunately it doesn't seem to be too serious but Dieng needs all the practice time and playing time he can get. This will probably slow his development but let's hope he is a quick healer and a quick learner. Can't wait for Saturday to get the first glimpse of how the guys look and see who may have made a serious step forward from last year. Anyone with a prediction on who may make the biggest improvement from last year?

Don't know if he is a candidate for one or not...but i'd be totally fine if he took a redshirt this year. Of course, if he's good enough to make a difference, then scrap that and I hope he recovers fast.

I'm looking for the most improvement out of A.J. Avery. He's the one we need to step up the most this season IMO.

I don't think he was expected to play beyond the K College game any way but it is to bad.

03-banghead03-hissyfit What a pisser. He came with very good reports, and you just can't replace 7'. It would be a real loss if he redshirts in my opinion.

Haven't seen the kid play. No idea if a redshirt would be a loss...or WMU's gain down the road.

Shayne should have redshirted his frosh year. He was in no danger of contributing ANYTHING that year. Don't need to make that mistake with Dieng if he's in the same boat. Now if he's a difference maker...then yeah, throw a hissy fit.

I suspect after sitting out his SR year of high school Dieng is more than anxious to play in some real games.

Yeah he's 7 feet tall and has good footwork and some athleticism. That is great, but he's only a freshman who's body isn't ready yet, he shouldn't be thrown into battle without his armor,. to borrow Hawk's phrase. I see no reason why he needs to play when LaMont's body is ready not to mention a trio of veterans who can play that spot too.

Sounds like Dieng may well see the floor this year.

Quote:Dieng might be a project from a physical development standpoint, but Hawkins said KD is athletic and skilled enough to see the floor as a freshman in a role that is far from being determined.

Mark my words: A.J. Avery will start at center.

I think he will initially. I need to see Lamont Saturday morning before I predict him starting by the time conference play rolls around
