This is getting crazy: Bell, Zappone and The Factory - national acclaim?
http://www.emueagles.com/news/2014/10/13...h=football
Now, I don't know if anyone in Norman, Oklahoma knows about Bell (unless HuronDave is doing his job. Lol) or Madison or SoCal (not to mention Boise), etc. but apparently the gray turf has become a national item.
As BobW would say: "Hell, yes. We can have Bell, Zappone and gray turf."
We are on a roll these last few days.
Couple more performance like last Saturday: Reggie Bell Jr. Field at Rynearson Stadium.

BTW, Bell, gray turf, The Factory, etc. EMU can't buy that kind of PR even for millions of dollars.
This is the joy of college athletics. Just have a successful team(s) and the PR is a natural by product.
Don't need to produce it, buy it, etc.

Hopefully the recruits that have committed have noticed along with those we're attempting to recruit. A few more wins this season would cement the message that CC given time can turn the program and its mindset around.

BTW, the more I look at Rynearson and 'imagine' 20K+ fans there (with say 7 - 8K on the east side) my biggest problem is the location of the scoreboard (because of the track) - not the look of the stadium or the track.
I might like to have the students on the East side and have a 'White out' or 'Green out' or 'GRAY OUT' (free gray T-shirts for students?).
http://fanindex.usatoday.com/2014/10/13/...-football/
Sounds crazy but I might like the track to be either green or gray (that might be best) track, instead of red.
I'd like a ribbon-type 'scoreboard' over the east stands - the old down, yard line, yards to go, etc.
The key point is that with computer graphics this can all be visualized before spending money doing any of it and realizing 'what were they thinking????'

I've said a gray track would be best. Scoreboard should be by the football building . Mississippi State has a similar open endzone setup, albeit w/o the track. I like how they do it. Iowa State, Maryland, Vandy, etc.
We should easily attract.15-20k every game. Had close to 12k at our lowest point last week.

I'd like to see a computer graphic of what Rynearson would look like with a gray track. There can 'only' be 3 options: (existing) red, gray or green. We know what red looks like. Time to do drawings of gray and also green and pick the best of the three.
One other thing I'd like and it would cost money is:
Keep the east side (that is my new thinking) and demolish the west side (except for the 3 or 4 new sections closest to the Convo) and build a new stands.
Make the stand closer to the track at mid-field (there is a significant curvature there and set back - more then is needed for T&F) AND make the new height of the stands equal to the height of the stadium near the goal line (this is obvious by looking at the east side where the stands get higher and higher approaching midfield). This would reduce say 10 - 15 rows (that's a good thing) from the west side stands (and maybe capacity by 3K, also a good thing).
Build new, larger 2-level press box/suites running between the two 20 yard lines. Attach new lights on the press box rather then on poles.
As for 2015, put up new lights on ONLY the east side. The west side lights could be done with new stands/press box/ suites.
The west side stands (except for those 3 or 4 sections by the Convo) will be 50 years old in a few years and NO ONE will miss the rest rooms, press box, suites, concessions, etc. etc.

BTW, this is a good view of Rynearson:
http://emuathletics.zenfolio.com/p118354...#h3c018fcc
It shows:
1). That the number of rows increase both sides as one gets closer to mid-field. The west stands at mid-field are pretty high and attendees need to climb a LOT of rows to get up toward the top.
2). Also, the west side much greater curvature starting at mid-field compared to the east side. I'd guess the west stands at mid-field could be say 15 feet closer to the playing field without interfering with the track.
