Pollack not deciding on draft until after bowl

By MARK SCHLABACH
Atlanta Journal-Constitution Staff Writer

Athens -- Three of Georgia's highly regarded football players say they'll be back next season, but All-America defensive end David Pollack and safety Sean Jones aren't sure.

Pollack, from Shiloh High School in Snellville, said he won't decide until after the Capital One Bowl on New Year's Day whether he'll be back next season. Pollack, a second-team All-America choice by the Associated Press, said he was told he'd be a first-round pick in April's NFL draft.

"It's actually getting more confusing lately," Pollack said. "I thought I had my mind made up, but then it kind of changed. I have enough information to know where I'd go [in the draft]. It's kind of getting hard to decide."

Jones, from Westlake High School, said he'll probably decide on whether to stay or go before the bowl game. But Jones won't announce his decision until after the Bulldogs play Purdue.

Jones said Bulldogs coach Mark Richt told the team's rising seniors they wouldn't have to work as much during the offseason and spring practice. Quarterback David Greene, receiver Fred Gibson and safety Thomas Davis all say they'll be back next year. Linebacker Odell Thurman, a sophomore who is eligible to enter the NFL draft, also said he'll return.
