That's for the best. He needs to add some bulk. He's a very intriguing prospect though. 6'9 guys that can hit threes don't exactly come around very often. Plus I forgot who mentioned it, but someone said he's allegedly still growing? That's pretty nuts.

Yes, it was posted here by someone (BobW?) with contacts within Nobles' h.s. that he had grown from 6' 7" to 6' 9" (legit) since signing with EMU.
Still growing?????
And, yes, very tall players who are still growing probably can benefit from a redshirt. It's not easy being 6' 9".
And we can also surmise that Murphy felt that his front court is well stocked.

No that was also me who posted that. Working with his HS coach has given me some good info.

Sorry about that...
You should get some scoops on the 2014-15 team.
It is my understanding that anyone who thinks they know what the starting lineup and rotations might be tomorrow, next month, start of the MAC season, etc. is probably off base.
There might be say 10 players who might start one or more games this season. There are so many players of near equal abilities at various positions. [However, it won't be the mess we've had at QB in football.]
This could be a crazy season.
The biggest 'known' is your post that Nobles is redshirting.

Hopefully we'll see him the in the weight room. Not a surprise really.

Of course it doesn't matter much anyway. We're two days away from proving ourselves after tipoff.
Frank what do you think a game against St Francis of Illinois will actually prove? Do you think its a true indicator of our team's abilities?

Pretty sure he just means that the games finally start. Obviously the St. Francis game isn't going to be a true indicator of our team's abilities.

Here are the openers for MAC teams.
http://www.mac-sports.com/calendar.aspx?path=mbball&
Our game is a first game (no exhibition) so we aren't going to open with Oakland, etc. That wouldn't be smart.
I see St. Francis (IL), Alma (didn't know they had a team or even a college), Aurora, Aquinas, IU-Kokomo, and Malone.

RE: Men's Basketball 2014/15
By the way, from reading the main board, I gather that we won't be able to get all of the MAC games online this year? That is pretty disappointing.
Does anyone know if EMU will still be streaming the games on their website?

Sam, here is the info from the EMU website which gives the status of each game.
http://www.emueagles.com/schedule.aspx?t...ath=mbball
Tomorrow, like the first game last year, is one of the those games where it looks like stats only.
The rest of the season looks fine for webcasting from the Convo (have to check away games).

Whew, thank you. I was starting to worry a bit there.
I think away games are going to be a no-go though, at least how we used to watch them for free on the MAC site.

I'd use the term 'TBD'. MAC is starting to transition to higher quality telecasts.
Some might even be ESPN3 in HD. I read that 3 schools are going to do ESPN3 productions this year: Multiple cameras, HD, etc. etc.

We have a couple MAC games on ESPN3, but only games at CMU, NIU, and Buffalo. Those 3 are ESPN3's guinea pigs this year. Hopefully next year, every MAC game is on it. I think they expect it to be over the next couple years though, which is frustrating.
CORRECTION: Just NIU and CMU. We play Buffalo at home this year.

Sam:
I can't resist: EMU 19, NIU 12 at the half but it is in HD.

That pisses me off. I really enjoyed watching our road games (obviously), but I'd even sit in front of he computer on days we were off and watch some hoops. I know most MAC basketball fans did. Now I'll end up paying for schools' subcriptions all winter.

I'm not sure how it will work (or not work). I think we need to be patient and see what happens.
I see these road games as TBD. MAC season doesn't start for over 6 weeks.
