Have to laugh, it looks like 2, 3, & 4 all go down this week. I'm not sure in the minds of most fans a four team playoff settles things.

Well, think about the teams that beat them. They're all still undefeated and better than the teams they just beat.

Arizona > Oregon
Ole Miss > Bama
TCU > Oklahoma
Miss State > TAMU

Arizona, Ole Miss, MSU and TCU are all undefeated. I'd put them in my top ten.

The more chaos the better...just means it won't take as long to get to 8 teams, and then eventually to at least the 16 that should be the minimum playoff field size with conference champions guaranteed a spot.

I'm not even certain it gets to 16, but I can tell you that's the max we can hope for.

4 is supposed to be locked in for 12 years, but I think we have 8 before this decade is out. If that happens, I think 16 is where it goes when the playoff TV rights go up for bid again. Too much money will be on table to pass up.

They may call it a playoff, but 4 teams is a beauty contest instead of a playoff. There could be as many as 6 teams left out this year that deserve legitimate consideration.

Ideal sceanrio: 16 teams, all 10 conference champions make it with 6 at-larges

I'd like to see an 8-team playoff with an auto bid for the G5 Champ but that won't happen.

10+6 is the format for 16 for sure, but include a minimum win total(9?).

At 8 I think the format is P5 champs + 3 at large, one spot guaranteed to G5 on a similar system as the old non-AQ BCS guarantee(in the top 12 or top 16 if ranked ahead of an AQ champ)

Even if there were a 16-team playoff, I would expect C-USA, SB, and MAC teams to be vying for a single shared access slot. All conference champs would never happen.

The 4 team playoff will implode and it will be fun to watch - far too much greed from the power 5 when they get left out

Why? That would make it too easy for the committee. I want there to be utter chaos, so they realize they should have opened up it to more teams. Four teams is asinine.

The P5 teams would get behind this structure if expansion to 16 occurred because the #1 team would play the Sun Belt Champ every year in the opening round.

4 playoff slots...

5 Power conferences

Do the math. Someone is going to be left out. And then when two SEC teams get in it then all hell will break loose, because you have not just one P5 conference locked out you have two.

After one or two years the idiots will make it a six team playoff to ensure that every P5 school gets in. At that point then I hope every G5 school and conference files a multitude of anti-trust lawsuits.
