RE: KSU-NIU Game Thread
The only other reason is if you think he would be a big part of the catalyst to get something going this year. We are finally at the point of the season where we have some breathing room in the schedule and technically things are not over yet (even if it feels like it). My big question will be can this coaching staff keep these players invested now that we are going into games we have really good chance of winning some games?

Any idea how long Reardon and Strock are expected to be out? I'd hate to see us burn Bollas' redshirt for a 1 game spot start while we're 0-5. I guess if he doesn't beat Reardon and Strock next year it's not that big of a deal because they could probably red shirt him next year.

Strock has a concussion and Coach said with all the talk around concussions that he would not be playing. Haynes also said they were waiting on X-rays for Coliin Reardon.

Does anyone have the first clue that he even wants to be in Kent next year? I think that is the ultimate question. If we know he's not coming back, I roll him out there as soon as humanly possible.
do you mean by not coming back he was going pro? If so, I don't believe that was him and was Dri last year. Durham IMO should get any thoughts of pro ball out of his head and work on being a better college player. Not sure he's been in shape yet since he's been at KSU. I see some things he needs to work on if he thinks he has a shot at the next level.

I did not mean professional football. There was talk of Durham leaving KSU and going elsewhere. I cannot imagine he wants to come back next year after the offseason talk of him wanting to leave. That is 100% pure speculation on my part. I am simply throwing that out there because I have absolutely no information to support my opinion.

I heard today Bollas is the likely QB versus UMASS.

They might just want Durham gone. Not the best work ethic. I was surprised to read that there were alot of pro scouts asking about him. If he can't cut it at this level he won't at the next. Haynes said he would error on the side of caution when it comes to Strock. They will be testing him as the week goes. Reardon, there were no results as of the press conference.

Is anyone else just extremely proud of this team? I hope it isn't just me. There is just something about them that has me excited for the second half of the season. (And 2015)

I want to be excited for this week's game hope to get out to Dix - I want to see PH succeed and stick around - but the QB situation tempers my optimism. I do think they are playing hard and hope they break through for some Ws

I am! I see the same thing. They are right at the door! The only thing about the recruiting that has me worried is all these players seeing a team full of freshman and sophmore starters and wondering about their playing time if they come to Kent

At the same time recruits could look at Kent as a place that will play the best man whether you are a freshman or a senior.

RE: KSU-NIU Game Thread
I am encouraged by the overall program. The coaching staff has a lot of experience and appear to be well-suited for the KSU program.

The players PH has been recruiting appear to have character & leadership. PH has touted the number of the number of his recruits that were team captains in high school. This contributes to a good foundation for the future.

Being 0-5 is unacceptable, but I believe things will turn around.

Go Flashes!

Glad to hear others believe the turnaround is coming as well. It kind of has that feel during the bye week of Hazell's first year. Not sure if the turnaround will be as dramatic, but if Haynes still has the kids fighting late this season, that's a sign the players have bought into the system.

RE: KSU-NIU Game Thread
I like the optimism here guys! As for me- anytime you field a team made up of primaraly underclassmen it's gonna pay dividends later and I do feel like we are setting ourselves up well for the next two years.

However, though we have some very winnable games coming up in the second half of the year if we don't have Reardon for an extended stretch I don't see us winning anything. Unfortunately we are not blessed with the backfield we have had in years past so expecting a 3rd or 4th string kid to step up and shoulder the pressure that was on Reardon is unresonable. This woulda been a prime opportunity for Strock to step into the spotlight and show us what he was made of, losing him is just insult to injury. A real shame.

Also- some of you still think Durham may transfer??? If he misses this whole year and transferred wouldn't he have to sit out another???? Would any big program even want him having him not played a game in two years? Add that to the fact he looked mediocre at best in 2013 and I just don't see it. I also agree with Danny in that there's no way he can bolt to the NFL at this point. We need to slap a redshirt on him and he needs to get his shi* together and start working for 2015 period, end of story.

You are right it was Strock's time and I feel bad that he didn't get his chance. From what I hear there will be a big surprise this saturday!! Unless I hear different in that case I will let you know.

Hopefully, it is that Reardon is starting. Pure speculation on my part, but I think Haynes announced both players as doubtful to throw the UMASS coaching staff off this week.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, you got me real curious now! If the program is growing tired of dealing with Durham as some of you speculate maybe they're just gonna give him the green light and cut ties with him asap.

Sad irony though we'd finally get the upgrade at running back we've needed all year right when we're depleated at QB... ;/

No that wouldn't be it. I hear he has a high ankle sprain. Strock with the concussion and a sprained neck doesn't look good either.

That's only what my opinion is. Seems to be others as well. But that will be at the end of the season

Well if that's indeed it you'd have to at least think that Thunder will take A LOT of pressure off whatever youngster ends up calling snaps. That's a positive... how is UMASS on the rush deffense???

I'm sorry that isn't what I was talking about for the surprise this weekend. Not sure how their rush defense is. I do think we will have a two headed attack though. I just hope all goes well. I know the team has been praticing and studying hard
