Percent of Last Week's Undefeated Teams with 1st loss:

Week 1: 31.00% (40 of 129)
Week 2: 36.36% (32 of 88)
Week 3: 39.29% (22 of 56)
Week 4: 26.47% (9 of 34)
Week 5: 32% (8 of 25)

Week 5 Thoughts:

-Not a lot of huge match-ups this week. However, in the one top 25 match-up, UCLA proved it is legitimately a top team by killing previously unbeaten Arizona State.

-Cincinnati lost to Ohio State, leaving Marshall as the only remaining unbeaten from a non-power 5 conference. There are currently 9, 1-loss teams in the Group of 5 as well. It’s possible that a 2 loss team ends up getting the access bowl bid, but there is an advantage to being on one of these lists. Very importantly, Boise State lost this week to Air Force removing them from the list and they were probably the Mountain West’s best shot. I’d put the best odds now down between Marshall and a 1 loss American winner.

-Rice won their first game of the year leaving us with 6 winless teams.

-The maximum number of undefeated teams we can now end up with is now 8 (one from each power 5 conference, Marshall, Notre Dame, and BYU).

Week 6 Thoughts:

-Bigger week this week than last. We have 4 games with undefeated team against undefeated team. We have Arizona @ undefeated Oregon on Thursday. On Saturday we have Texas A&M @ Mississippi State, Oklahoma @ TCU, and Alabama @ Ole Miss.

-Other games involving undefeated teams include: undefeated Baylor @ Texas, Stanford @ undefeated Notre Dame, LSU @ undefeated Auburn, Miami (FL) @ undefeated Georgia Tech, undefeated Nebraska @ Michigan State, Utah @ undefeated UCLA, Utah State @ undefeated BYU on Friday, undefeated Marshall @ Old Dominion, and Wake Forest @ undefeated Florida State.

-We have one game between winless teams with UMass @ Miami (OH).

Which meant my percents were also off. 03-banghead This is why I double check things normally (rushed too much this week).

I appreciate having your data to double check my own. I had New Mexico as losing to New Mexico State instead of the other way around. 04-cheers

I highlight the undefeated and winless columns when a conference is completely removed from the list (next week their spots will simply be erased).

I haven't done it yet in the 1 loss column though as any undefeated team can move into it which means none of the conferences (or independents) are completely off for good yet.
