The fans we have are through the toughest of times and loyal to the end. We should be giving these current fans gold medals once we can finally say that we have a good team, because the band wagon will fill up quick.
An enema, figuratively here and in real life, does us more harm than good.

I am still on board, I still believe this will be a winning season. This is not the same team or coaching staff.
When is the last time we forced six turnovers( Or had a defensive player rated high enough for the next level)?
When is the last time most teams forced 6 turnovers? We played poorly, but this team is much better than it looked on saturday. Maybe they got a seasons worth of mistakes out of their system and we wont see any repeats. Also, maybe clark and staff learned a bit about hiding offensive tendencies against an experienced staff and talented defense.
Last Saturday for FIU dont follow others that closely. I hope its much better we had upperclassmen committing penalties, and taking poor angles on defense knowing he probably couldn't catch the guy. That was one big play cant remember the other. Even CBC said we got no takeaways. We force two to three turnovers we probably win the ball game even with six turnovers. The team could be better but what are you basing it off of? That we tied 5-19's two wins from last year? That we played Miss St. close when they probably didn't take us seriously?
Good question. I base it off the fact that we have a good running game and a much improved ability to stop the run and get off the field on 3rd down. Howard rushed for 100 against fiu and had an 80 yd burst called back. Defense has slipped a notch with loss of our two biggest upgrades to injury and the move of petty from corner...but they still only gave up 14 pts saturday...one to the corner that replaced petty getting lost on a play. We are improved on defense and also still under talented and making mistakes. Both can be true. Hang in there. Better days are ahead.

Thanks, and finally someone gets it we've lost our best two defenders and some think there won't be a drop off. We're basically now the same defense from last season with only Gaston starting as a new face. Some, I included grilled 3 last game so im not so sure we're better. Some pointed out Farmer only having one int I think till the a&m game well thats alot of oir db's case if im not mistaken that was C.Jones first pick.
Another thing I trying to figure out is if the best 11 is on the field, but some positivity for the thread S.Jones has stepped up. I like Mondie's play on the line. Banks deserve snap good snaps.

We have annual problems with keeping safeties healthy. Last year we lose both starters by game 3 and played freshmen and running backs the rest of the year. This year we lose baker and jackson...as much safety as lb...by game 3. must be why clark signed a dozen safeties.

FIU's 38-10 win over FAU confirms that FIU isn't the same team that lost to BC. As long as the team moved on and learned from their mistakes, we are in good shape.

This. Like I said, @WKU will put last Saturday in better focus. Actually, FIU over FAU did that, too, to some extent.

Well, maybe we don't suck quite as bad as some thought after our loss to them.

Win or lose tomorrow, if we are a quick study, we should have enough information at least to well prepare us for the rest of the schedule.

We lost the turnover battle by 6 and didn't get completely blown out. It was a bad game, but we did a lot to hurt ourselves. everything that went wrong is correctable. A good coach can make that happen.

No, this defense is NOT the same as the one we had last season... This year's defense is well coached.

RE: Back to Reality: We're Not a Good Football Team, So What's Next?
...yes, we have the same defensive players as last season, but they have 1 more year of D1 experience than they had last year, they had better training/preparation in the off season, and they are being correctly coached on fundamentals/technique, etc.
Also, the attitude of the players is different due to the positive attitude of the coaching staff.
They are only human, but they have a MUCH better chance to be successful this season due to the things that are going on behind the scenes in the UAB football program now.
We've only just begun...
